Saw this on the lead up to the castle great piece of history

Memorial Drinking Fountain on the left hand side of the Esplanade outside Edinburgh Castle.The fountain was donated to the 91st Argyll Highlanders in 1874 after Queen Victorias Daughter, Louise, became their Colonel in Chief.The insignia of the 91st Highlanders is carved on the fountain, and the water was available for public consumption. The fountain is no longer operational, but is still for a visit.
