I found Fergus online following a search for good, local guitar tutors following years of dipping in and out of guitar playing and not really progressing too well. Fergus has been teaching me now for a year and in that time I have noticed a huge difference in my playing. Fergus provides a wealth of experience and knowledge, a great environment (pre covid) to learn in, and (post covid) a fantastic on-line learning experience. Following an initial chat at the start to find out where I wanted to focus (to learn notation and to gain a good grasp of music theory as my key objectives as well as learning to play some great songs along the way) I have found I have come on in leaps and bounds. I found Fergus online back in 2022. I've been playing guitar for over 40 years but found I was increasingly getting in a rut, playing over the same old lines and songs. I asked Fergus to help me become a better jazz guitarist, and in the last year we have worked through many standards, explored different approaches to soloing, and had some fun jams to start and end lessons. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, supportive teacher who really knows his stuff I can't recommend Fergus highly enough.

The online lessons are easy to organise and a really great way to learn the guitar. Fergus focuses on making learning interesting by teaching songs you know and like rather than old guitar classics that seem irrelevant.

My son really enjoys his lessons. Fergus knows how to make the most of the lesson time and always delivers feedback positively with clear ways to improve on a performance. He’s very patient and always makes lessons enjoyable leaving my son inspired to make progress before their next lesson.

Excellent Guitar teacher. Really knowledgeable and super flexible to what I want to learn (which, unfortunately for poor Fergus can really change on a whim). Always profession and willing to work with a slow learner. Highly recommend.

I didn't like guitar teachers before having Fergus, they were all pretentious and so a lack of communication ensued and I wasn't able to learn proficiently compared to other arts teachers I had. Fergus tries and succeeds most of the time in understanding you as a person and what your desires are in guitar playing, and adapts that given knowledge to the style of teaching.
