Although the place it is situated in Manchester is great to visit..I do not understand how you even got an autorisation to run a hotel on top a freaking club..(yes the rooms are on top of an actual club..not bar, CLUB )..on top of a bar!We booked on booking so we just thought there would be a cute bar under but omg no...sooooo much noise until 5 a.m. because of the club. The rooms are litteraly just above it so it was absolutly impossible to sleep. On top of that the pictures let it looks ok but actually its old fourniture..the bed is not really confortable (also it says kingsize on booking...absolutly not a kingsize),the sheets are pretty old and it was not very clean. Anyway if you are looking for a good night sleep...absolutly don't go there. But then again if you're looking for a party until 5 go.

I was here in Jan 23, not been back since, I actually avoid going here now.Discrimination and bullying at its finest from the doorman. The reviewes are totally true. I've had the same experience as many of the reviews state. He's a bully!I do wonder why a long standing bar that's a staple of the village community isn't taking into account these reviews about the doorman. There's clearly a much bigger problem. There's bad reviews all over the place about him, everyone saying the same thing? It's clearly an issue and needs investigating properly.

I love the place, but even though I have been very comprehensive with all the rules, they forbid me get out of the place with water. They said it is ilegal in Manchester. Initially I was shocked. How a city do not allow people to drink water outside? Then I realised it was a lie (quick google search). Therefore, I would say to the manager to please take more responsibilities with the local laws. Other than that, I would recommend the place.

Its a shadow of its 80's self but still good for the mostly middle aged crowd. Good location on Canal st.

The bartender and the Irish staff were rude and so unhelpful(one English staff was trying his best and kind). Location’s great, but terrible facility. Heater and remote control in the room were broken, and the electric shower in the bathroom didn’t work well. They have two shower rooms but one is broken and neither one was clean.Edit: we stayed there on Nov 2nd 2022, room was in front of the front door, thank you.

Found this place on short notice, as I was due to get the train down on the announced strike day of October 1st.The hotel is decent enough, with its select rooms. It was easy to find, in the heart of Manchester’s Gay Village and check-in was smooth. To check-in, ask at the bar and they’ll confirm your booking reference. They then hand you the keys and give a briefing on which keys are what and how to use them, as there’s at least two safety doors you need to unlock. The room itself was OK, quite small but it’s not like you need a ton of space anyway. There was a double bed, tea/coffee making facilities but no milk (so buy some, if you take milk) - a minor complaint - a mini fridge, and lamp. There was hooks and a shelf on the other side of the room. Bathroom was nice.Wi-Fi was perfect, I must stay. Held a Skype phone call for almost 17 hours until I hung up.So, before I stayed, I checked out the other reviews and I believe this had been revamped/renovated since as you could see some wear/tear but it was nothing to get upset about. The door not fitting 100% into place was a little worrying, but nothing a good shove couldn’t fix. It’s located above a bar and a night club, so it’s very loud, but you should know this when you book. They provide two sets of ear plugs, which is nice. They’re needed as the music continues until 4.My biggest complaint was probably the bed, as I felt every spring. Not exactly Premier Inn, as I’m ironically writing this from one, but you get what you pay for. If I could ask for one thing to be changed, it would be a new mattress OR at least a foam protector.Another minor complaint was that there was no lift, my suitcase was too heavy for me to lift all that way by myself, but it was fine.Other than that, I didn’t mind the stay at all and would stay again knowing what to expect. I have stayed in much, much worse places.

To Allan Whyte and all owners.I'm very glad that you finally fired that doorman, I haven't been to the village in over a year because the way he treated me really affected my mental health, I already have PTSD, social anxiety, and the way he talked to me was completely unacceptable, I cried when I got home. And haven't been back since.I'm glad he's gone, hopefully you hired a more kind and understanding person to be the bouncer.Yet, you let him stay there way too long after all the reviews you had. You have to act quick, your business and other people's mental health is at stake. This is life, we deserve a more welcoming place where we can feel safe.Unfortunately, nothing will take away that horrible experience I had with him being so rude and loud with me.But hopefully it doesn't happen again to other people.

Dude doesn't know how to run a business. Allowed a very rude doorman to be in front of the pub for YEARS, harassing and bullying customers. This is the worst place in the village, read the reviews, go somewhere else.
