This is a beautiful location and the hotel rooms are being updated. The old rooms are reminiscent of a different era. Unfortunately, the carpets are stained in the non-updated rooms, which does not give a good first impression. The quality furniture is marked with hot cups and no mats are provided. The toilets need a proper descale. You will find cobwebs and spiders in many of the corners, both in the rooms and around the hotel communal areas. The beds are comfortable and the manager is very helpful. I felt that the breakfast was not good value for money as there was no fresh fruit on the buffet, only tinned grapefruit (great if you like it) and only semi-skimmed milk. A choice would have been nice as our child will not drink semi-skimmed and left the cereal. Even the Premier Inn offers both types of milk, a buffet cooked breakfast for £9 unlimited and kids eat free! We were offered the possibility of full fat milk, which could have been ordered for the following day but that was not really helpful. We were offered some strawberries. The mushrooms were tinned, which is pure laziness! Scrambled eggs and bacon are fine. No black pudding, which is part of a full English breakfast and no fried bread! The price is the same for an adult as for a child. £21.50 in total for a continental for a 7 year old child and a cooked breakfast, which is not really “full” for 1 adult. The shower was very powerful but you will need to bring your own shampoo and shower gel as only some kind of dispensable, unknown soap is available. The steam room and sauna were working in the leisure facilities but the jacuzzi was not. Check out time could be a little later at 11am as opposed to 10.00am. I may visit again and try one of the updated rooms but I would skip the breakfast! I can’t comment on the golf course because I don’t play golf however, it was quite busy at the weekend. It’s a real shame because a couple of small touches and additions to this place would make such a difference!

Only thing nice about this place is the golf course. It needs an update and new management1, like a football club very noisy and rowdy2, room very small and warm3, breakfast took ages, have to get up to request and order4,bar area uneven floor where it’s raisedCausing tripping hazard5, toilets very dirty and out of order6, short changed at the bar had to question it and no apology7, pro shop very good8, course good but limited buggies9, limited bins around course and benches as quite a lot of hold ups.Would go back for the golf but not to stay

First time staying for 1 night at this hotel. Beautiful location. Large car park shared with Golf Club. Nice comfortable reception area, bar and restaurant. We stayed in a basic double room (8) on the first floor. Although not recently decorated, it was clean and well equipped. On suite, TV, phone, desk, chair, tea & coffee making facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable and hotel noise was minimal which was surprising considering there was a wedding taking place that night. We had a good sleep. (Would have given 5 stars if a shower mat had been supplied) We had booked on a B&B basis and were shown to our table by a friendly waitress. I had a full english breakfast served by the waitress. My wife had the continental breakfast from the buffet bar. Both were excellent and good value for money. We would definitely stay here again.

Played golf on the wensum course, the other being the valley. Great set up and thoroughly rate it. Booked 18 holes via golf now app for £12. Unfortunately holes 12-16 were closed due to flooding but we played 123 17 and 18 again. Bargain place for the price.

I attended a wedding here, never seen such disorganisation in my life. One member of staff on the bar, who kept disappearing for 10/15 mins at a time and left a 16 year old behind it most of the time who obviously couldn’t serve anyone alcohol. Walked past the kitchen and two of the young staff members were having a full on argument over something, I was served a pint in a dirty glass with lipstick all over it, we had dirty cutlery on a a lot of the tables with bits of food on, dirty coffee/ tea cups the food was late out and cold and bland as anything when it did arrive. The bread rolls for the starter were the cheapest thing they could find, not fresh they came from a freezer as ours were still partially frozen. The vegetables were well undercooked to the point where they felt like they’d just been dipped in warm water, staff were rude they just dropped the plates of the table any didn’t seem to know what they were doing. If I were the bride and groom I’d be seeking a partial refund for the poor service, poor food, dirty cutlery, glasses, and disorganisation. They didn’t even fill up the salt and pepper pots on the tables. If your looking for a memorable day, as and bride and groom would be, do not have your wedding here unless you want to remember it for all the wrong reasons.

This place is nice but tired. It was good location for us as we had plans the next day.The bed was possibly the most uncomfortable bed I've slept in for a long time.Pros: reasonable value for money, the staff were helpful. The food was nice, we also had an evening meal which was tasty. Good selection for breakfast.Cons: dated, uncomfortable bed, got woken up at all hours by golf groups singing and listening to loud music. They only offers us 1 cup of tea or coffee for breakfast, I need at least 2!!!

Stayed for a Christmas party night with friends.Rooms were clean and bathroom looked as though it had recently been refurbished with a good powerful shower. Bed was comfortable and slept well although walls are very thin so could hear everything from the adjoining rooms.Leisure facilities are fab, was pretty quiet during the times we visited.Christmas party itself was ok, not a lot of food for the price we paid. 2 small trays of veg between 10 people and the baileys cheesecake had no sign of baileys anywhere. The night porter on the bar after the party had finished was so lovely, really good customer service. Unfortunately didn't catch his name.Breakfast the next morning was a bit of a shambles. Took over 30 mins from ordering to recieve the cooked breakfast which was luke warm at best. Had to ask for coffee as none was offered. 2 out of 4 breakfasts had a raw sausage. Brought it to the attention of one of the waiting staff, was given a half hearted apology and offered another but it had put us off our breakfast unfortunately. Also mentioned it to reception upon checkout.Would stay again but would probably avoid breakfast as didn't find it value for money with low quality ingredients.
