Ayres Rock Hostel & Campsite

We stayed in one of the camping pods which where really lovely. They have 3 power sockets, a very effective heater and light. Comfortable beds. Lovely. The location is amazing! We saw seals and otters from the site. The shower was, let's say very basic. There is a well equipped but basic campers kitchen with fridge, toasters, microwave and gas cooker.

The facilities are clean and decent with plenty of hot water. The camping kitchen did remind me of my student digs in the early 1990’s but are rather useful in inclement weather. A well run site and in reasonable repair. Visited mid October 2022.

Having spent two weeks at this campsite, we comsider ourselves are well qualified to review. The hosts Julie and Paul were very welcoming and helpful and the facilities the best on Sanday Island. The kitchen area in particular made our lives so much easier for cooking and the scheduled rota with other campers giving privacy and confidence around Covid-19. A five star stay.

Tried a camping pod (shed - but a great one!) ideal for a short break, touring with bikes as we didn't have to carry any camping kit :)I'm so pleased that small businesses like this are able to re-open. We had a great relaxed stay. Used the campers kitchen to prepare meals, and loved meeting Primrose the cat :)Only downside is there's just 1 shower and toilet for campers/pod campers - and due to restrictions only 1 person/family can enter the block in which the toilet and shower is in. As long as you aren't desperate for a shower or the toilet and are relaxed to use the facilities when they're available, it's fine!

Stayed for one night while visiting on the island. The pod was very cosy when we arrived and the owner popped over a little while after to see us settling in.Kettle and crockery were available in the pod, there is a separate kitchen with oven and microwave for bigger meals.There is a convenience store not far, by car.Great views and mattress and bedding were comfy, we had a great night's sleep.

My husband and I stayed in a camping pod for two nights in July. The pod was very comfortable and cosy. The facilities were satisfactory and well conceived. Our hosts were extremely welcoming, nothing was too much trouble, and the location was beautiful. Thank you.
