Royal Castle of Tarbert
Nice elevated view over Tarbert and the marina, but there's very little Castle to see, just some ruins with sheep eating the grass around it. There are a few info boards about its history and that it's part of the Kintyre Way walking route

A nice spot to view Tarbert and surrounding areas. Not much left of the castle and only a small amount of information on it. Best to go up for the view.

Lovely walk with stunning views over the village of Tarbert. For those which like walking there are two forestry walks right beside the castle, which also offer some nice views.

Literally a hop skip and jump from the main street. This little gem is a place to take in the view and meditate on the fact that the universe got it right when making Scotland so pretty. Please be mindful of the local wildlife aka the grounds man/sheep. Up a couple of flights of stairs to a beautiful view of the Ferry terminal, harbor , church top and the town as far as the eye can see. There is information to learn about the history and benches to take in the view. Would suggest having a jacket and glass or wine picnic handy. We were there the weekend before any major festival and got to miss the crowds.

It’s a very cool old castle ruins, surrounded by a lovely park. While it was a bit rainy and windy, we had a nice time exploring and learning a little more about the castle, the town and the local history. Well worth a short stop.

Good ol’ typical Scottish wet n windy day however didn’t stop us walking up to see the castle ruins. Was absolutely stunning views and would love to go back on a sunny day. Good few stairs up so probably not the best if your mobility isn’t great, however absolutely loved the walk up and exploring.

Amazing and breathtaking views of the water and the small town surrounding it. The castle is essentially ruins, yet it's still a piece of Scottish history. The town of Tarbert is super cool. There are a handful of places to eat and grab a drink. Really neat experience.

Very interesting ancient castle remains and free to wander with the sheep. Plus a tiny wetland area at the bottom. Follow the signs from the town and walk up the steps between buildings. Great views over the harbour and town.
