The Normandie Hotel
Gents downstairs; No locks on the toilets or handle. In this regard, very careless attitude and no consideration to respect anyone's privacy.

Great place run by great people in a great location! The food is out of this world! Good food, good company + free wifi... what more could you want? Not to mention the table tennis/ snooker room and the swimming pool. Very cheerful, helpful, accommodating staff. Very close to the beach. All round a great place to be!

Wonderful kind staff. Fantastic catering and kind waiter/ess staff. Always helpful. Delicious food and good portion sizes, struggled to finish all, but just wanted to taste everything ! Some rooms still need updating, but would definitely recommend.

The Normandie violates the second law of thermodynamics. The owners despise it, an obstinate blockage to the prime located 80 flat block which will one day be their route to millions. Paralleling the decline of the Borscht belt, all the other great Bournemouth kosher hotels have succumbed to the ravages of time and economics. The visitors wryly joke about the pervasive smell of fifty years of undersupervised toddlers regretting over-consumption in corridors and walkways. The carpet has been replaced by duct tape in places. And yet, this anomalous hotel - at its prime in the 1950s I would think - staggers on unabated. In reality the Normandie does not live up to the taunts of the mockers. The 1970s style bathroom suites in mustard green are actually entirely sanitary. The rooms themselves are clean, without the actual decay I had been led to expect. The service is enthusiastic, and the food was cooked by someone with a deep passion for Ashkenazi Food My Mum Would Make and apart from 2 over-indulging toddlers nobody was ill. A pitcher for neigel wasser is to be expected, but the accompanying bowl was impressively schtark. Every room has a Shabbos light, and of course the door keys are of the old, manual vintage. This is a great place to be such a toddler. There is plentiful space outdoors, and a network of corridors to run screaming through with friend, or play table tennis or pool in a room with a terrifying collection of pockmarks in the ceiling. Parents will appreciate the pay to pray shul with the complete works of every pretender to the throne of Rebbe of Satmar.I must correct some misunderstandings which have crept mysteriously into the google listing and website. It is technically true that there is some rainwater sloshing around the cracked concrete which thirty years ago would have been the swimming pool, and it continues to attract great interest, mostly from invertebrates. Nevertheless the glossy photographs of blue on the website do not seem entirely accurate. I cannot agree with the claim that this is an unfussy" hotel. There are detailed rules to follow on walls throughout the length of the hotel. Apparently only non mevushal wine is acceptable for kiddush. The hotel's wine

Building is unsafe and risk of collapse. Not health & safety regulated. Ceiling collapsed in one of the bedrooms in the middle of the night. Occupants were injured. Owners wouldnt give a refund or compensation.

Kosher. Dati. A small piece of Stamford Hill on the beautiful South Coast.Regular services in the shul.A very lovely group of guests. Kashrut you can rely upon. Mikveh nearby. A littleold-fashioned, but all the better for that.
