Great service & v friendly atmosphere Had lunch & food was delicious & of high standard. This venue will soon be in high demand we were impressed & plan on returning soon.

Red Lion Inn & Motel
Staff were lovely and friendly. Bed was very comfortable but there is noise from the traffic on the road outside (Ear plugs are provided but didnt block it out for me). I would suggest having voile curtains at the windows or blinds as the rooms are not very private. Having to close the curtains during the day makes the room dark.Meal in the restaurant was great but desserts were over priced at £8.95 each.Accommodation was very reasonably priced and includes continental breakfast.

We have difficulties with this place.My main concern is the Sundays. We came later on a Sunday and there were staff members around but a young man told us quite rudely that they were obviously closed. We weren’t aware , especially as all the doors were open and music on with people still there. Oh well. The next time we came, we walked in two hours before close to find six staff members sat right by the door eating. Now I understand the weekend can be busy and they deserve a lunch break but they all looked at us and were unwelcoming, acting as if we were an inconvenience for interrupting. One person said it wasn’t their turn and then a young man stood up and huffed, rolling his eyes and begrudgingly served us. At this point I felt like we couldn’t walk out but felt unwelcome. Every time we have come in we haven’t felt welcome and it has never been busy, so it’s just poor service. There’s plenty of pubs in the area so I can’t see us returning when everywhere else is welcoming.

The worst hotel experience of my life. Room was ok for what it was, nothing special. Shower head looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. A LOT of noise from nearby road.We arrived 15mins before check in (as had 3 other couples).Pub all locked up, no staff on reception - not a good start. Walked through and found the head chef who was deeply unhappy at having to book the guests in. Ate in the pub for the first night and the food was pleasant, however breakfast was a completely different story- the milk was off and when staff brought out more bread it was all mouldy. We decided not to eat in the pub for the rest of our stay after this. On both occasions we returned from our day out, staff were smoking marijuana, with the manager openly telling my husband she wouldn't come any closer to him as she was 'smoking a joint' but it was ok because in her words 'she deserved it'! Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Unfortunately quite disappointing from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left. Asked at the bar where we could sit as we wanted to eat, and the bar staff were not very helpful told us to sit in the bar but didn't give us menu or tell us about the Carvery. Also had no idea on what we had ordered when it came to paying. Service was painful and very disorganised. There was a young blonde girl who was very good but clearly run off her feet and didn't seem to be getting any help from others. Had to wait over half an hour to be allowed to go up for carvery. Had to ask for sauces which arrived without spoons. Some of the carvery was meant to be brought to our table and it never arrived. Food was ok and quite reasonable, good portion of meat, but not worth the wait.

Incredible food! One of the best places we have ever eaten. Kids meals were also amazing, our son epecially loved the 'tadpole in the hole'. Will visit again soon.

Passed the pub on my way to York. Lovely atmosphere, real friendly chap behind the bar, good selection of ales and I had the best sausage roll during my week here (chorizo and feta). Their menu looked delicious too. They apparently just renovated and the place looks real good. Keep it up! Definitely recommend.

We had our Motor Club meet here for the first time to try it out. Will the landlord, Olli the bar person, Holly the waitress greeted us cheerfully. They looked after us really well and I'm sure we will be going back. Menu looked good. Large car park. Thank you for your time.

5* We came in as a table of 7 with no reservation, the gent behind the bar was fantastic and very tentative to our needs. Food was brilliant and came quick enough but not too quick like the microwave chef meals! Will definitely visit again, toad in the hole with hog sausages was divine! Thank you!
