Barchester - Kenwyn Care Home

My father, who is 97, has been a resident at Kenwyn for just over 9 months and there has been a definite improvement in his health and wellbeing; I attribute this to the excellent support and encouragement that he receives. The nursing staff are first class, professional, compassionate, and caring. Dad is treated with dignity and respect at all times.In walking along the corridor, it is notable how each member of staff will greet a resident by name, making time to talk to them and make them feel special. The dining room with its semi formal atmosphere and good food encourages Dad to chat and be sociable, eating three meals a day, very different to eating alone at home. With so much space at Kenwyn there are rooms and outside space where family and friends can sit with residents; the coffee and cakes, available at all times, help to reinforce the home from home feeling.As a regular visitor I am made to feel not only welcome but part of the life of the care home, something that I value greatly.

My aunt stayed at Kenwyn for respite care early in 2023 and I cannot fault the quality of the staff, care or the home. It is in a great location and she was well looked after by everyone that had contact with her. The food is good, the gardens are lovely (even though it was the wrong time of year to appreciate them fully) and the attention to detail was second to none. Would definitely recommend.

My colleague and I visited for a meeting at Kenwyn and were so warmly welcomed; with incredible homemade cake and coffee. What was noticeable from the moment we walked in, was the friendly greetings from all staff that we met and even those who merely just saw us as we walked past. Everyone was so polite and friendly. The rooms and gardens we saw were all beautiful and it felt more like a hotel than a home.

Visited Kenwyn a couple of weeks ago along with some other care homes but Kenwyn stood out to us. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The home had a really lovely feel about it. Thank you for all of your help and support in this process, it’s been great to get some good advice from true professionals.

Exceptional care has been given to my mum throughout her stay at the memory lane part of the home. It is valuing, embracing and first class. I can see the trust and confidence my mum has in the team and it is so reassuring at this time in her life. Thank you.
