The building itself is of local historical importance, thus giving it a great atmosphere. The menu caters to all tastes & dietary requirements. The quality of the food served, however, is what makes this establishment really stand out. Bookings at weekends are a must. The same goes for weekdays if there's more than two diners per party. As a bonus: serves a nice pint of Thatcher's. What more can you ask for?!

Had a great carvery here after the reopening of the pub. Was welcomed by the lovely Ollie who was happy to help whenever. The new refurb has brought a comforting atmosphere into the pub.

Very disappointed. With almost 1 hour queue to get carvery. I felt very sorry for the young lad who was carving. He was running to the kitchen to get more food and plates. Take away customers took ages to fill their boxes to overflowing.Beef I could not even cut and took home for my dog.Sprouts rock hard. Will not be visiting again.

Came for lunch today. We had a bit of a wait for drinks, but they were very busy and kept on their toes, so we didn't mind. The food was amazing. I will definitely be back soon.

It always seems busy when we've driven past, but actually going in confirms that. Finding a parking space on Sunday lunchtime was extremely difficult, which resulted in many people parking outside the pub (off the road, but either side of the entrance/exit), which made getting out onto the fast road a scary prospect. Couldn't see safely down the road to judge if it was OK to pull out - was flashed out but without that may have been a different result. Parking roadside ought to be stopped or at least re-thought.Food was OK but a very long queue, but have to say the staff really were a credit to the place!

We had a party of 27 on Friday, food was pre ordered 4 weeks previous but there was delays from start to Finish and the deserts people had eaten theirs before over half had received theirs. And the meals were put at the end of the table and we had to pass them down to who's they were. DISGUSTING SERVICE AND ORGANISATION. We had a brilliant time last year but if it's going to be like this many people will not be coming next year.

On arrival it took at least 10 minutes to be acknowledged by staff. No one on door, no one on bar with a queue waiting to be served. There were 6 of us and had there been just my partner and I we would have left. Only one member of staff on carvery who was really busy. After eventually being shown to our reserved table (by very pleasant member of staff) we were able to order and pay reasonably quickly. Slight delay in food arriving. Overall food good for reasonable price. Good carvery, fabulous roast potatoes, but no cauliflower cheese. Long queue at bar for second round of drinks. Seemed to be very understaffed, although staff were pleasant. Would return as overall very good value for money.

Very disappointed. We went here for Sunday lunch. Only one vegan option on the whole menu. The good old’Beyond Meat burger’. Really! Why doesn’t the carvery have a vegan option. It’s not difficult to use a bit of imagination and provide 2 or 3 vegan options. The rest of the family went off to get their carveries and I sat for a short while when my meal arrived. It wasn’t very warm(I later learned the server had been carrying it around the restaurant looking for our table before being directed to it by my sister who was still waiting in the carvery queue). I decided I had better start otherwise it would be stone cold. I finished my meal and my family had still not returned from the carvery. When they finally got back -almost an hour later, they revealed that the beef was tough, and the potatoes, carrots and sprouts were hard. It really isn’t good enough. The queues were ridiculously long all the time we were there which is not pleasant for those queuing or for the people trying to eat at tables along the queue. What a disappointment.
