Unfortunately our experience of Mawdsleys has been unhelpful, rude, unprofessional, non returned calls, miss-information and a distinct lack of empathy.My Mother had used Mawdsleys for approx 30 years; purchasing her home, Will etc, and it seems they were very helpful when their were no challenges.However, once my Mum was diagnosed with Cancer and approched them to update her will, they were not forthcoming. Having finally got through and made an appointment, they subsequently claimed they were not willing to help based on their current 'work load'. We were also informed that it was not worth starting the Lasting Poer Of Atterny process because of the waiting list.They then washed their hands of her. Fortunately, we didn't listen to this advice and managed to apply and receive The Power Of Atterny through another solicitor prior to her passing.12 months on she passed, and I approached Mawdleys to retrieve her will and was informed by the receptionist that we had a copy of the will and that was sufficient. Later I found out that the original will was required for Probate purposes. After numerous calls and voice messages but no returned call I got through to the receptionist who showed no empathy. This lack of empathy continued to my Mum's solicitor who informed me he believed we had never met, even though I had accompanied my Mother at her request to the meeting where she innitially discussed her requests to update her will. On collecting the will, I was greated by a receptionist who rolled eyes, huffed and puffed, and bluntly passed an envelop onto the the desk like I was buying a paper at a corner shop.It goes without saying that we would not use or recommend Mawdsleys based on our experiences.
