Had a very bizarre experience when I visited this shop to buy first school shoes for my daughter. Greeted with a frosty welcome and were encouraged to go to Clarks. Persevered as had wanted Startrite shoes. Half hearted attempt at measuring her feet, brought a few styles out - none of the ones my daughter had chosen. Refused to say what size foot she had. Ended up leaving empty handed and quite relieved to not have given money to abusiness that made us both feel uncomfortable.

Really good independent shop. Knowledgeable staff who are really friendly and helpful, with no hard sell. Bought my son's (8 at the time, now 9) school shoes which have stood up to everything he has thrown at them and lasted all year, and because he was properly measured in the face place, and growing room accounted for, still fit. Will definitely be back for the next pair...
