Lowther Lake

One of the most underrated places for seeing wildlife around Leeds just minutes from St Aidens but only see anglers

Lowther lake is an excellent place to fish for the pike and in the winter months I tend to fish using dead baits inject with cod liver oilI have only fished this lake on four occasions and the best fish I have banked was eleven pounds but I have been informed that there are fish to be had twenty plus pounds.Lowther lake is a large lake with a number of different species to target but I only fish this lake for the pike in the winter months.You tend to get a number of different nationalities fishing this lake in the winter months fishing for and removing the pike which is unacceptable but apart from this ongoing problem this is a enjoyable place to cast a line during the cold winter months and I would recommend a visit..

Great lake to walk round with the dog, great views during sunrise and sunset due to the boards that go out over the water. Interested in fishing here but never know who to contact. There's a bridge at the back of the lake that unfortunately has broken and hasn't been fixed for several months, hopeful this gets fixed shortly

If you like to fish, bird watch or just want to walk, with or without a dog this is great place to go

Peaceful place to walk, shame bridge wasn't repaired after the floods for a circular walk, little piers for fishermen give great sunset views. Paths leading to St Aidens then onto Woodlesford, The Lines etc. Wooded part and field for dogs to play and chase rabbit smells!

After Birdwatching for an hour or 2 at St Aidens I decided to check out the lake next door. Idyllic quiet and amazing views across many habitats. Only one visible fishing piers was occupied. Signage could do with contact details as I don't want to fish but would pay a membership fee to keep the facilities maintained.

Great stock of carp and pike. The fishing for pike is so easy you can catch 4 or 5 on a good day. And also lots of tiny perch to catch on spinners. The lakes best pegs are 32, 32 and 25 in my opinion.

Great place for a mooch with dogs or family plenty of wildlife and a great fishing lake
