The Cardinals Hatt
The food was pretty good for the cost. On site parking with narrow spaces. Nice looking place with some retro style motel rooms at the back. Food was OK, didn't change my life but was filling and tasty if a bit expensive. Staff were accommodating and polite. Lots of different areas to eat like in the bar or restaurant depending on the customers likes.

If you just want somewhere to lay your head that is inexpensive then this place is good. Rooms are all external to pub and quite cold and musty smelling. I could not get any heat from the rad so I went to the car and got a hoody. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Hot water took a while to get going but was fine after that. Neither bedside lamp worked.Food in restaurant was good but be aware they don't serve after 5 on Sunday. I arrived at 8:30 pm and had to find somewhere else to eat after a 300 mile drive.For what I paid it was good, but not for those wanting a weekend away. I get the impression this place is used mainly during the week by contractors like me.

Our visit was a disaster. The room wasn't ready. When thet eventually got it ready, it was not clean especially the toilet & bath. Family room too crowded & poorly arranged. I offered to pay for a late check out of no more than an hour because my wife was very ill. But the Manageress didn't have the courtesy to look at me when I was making the request. And she rudely said I want you out now". Shocking. The Owner Manager thought that my 50 year old Brother in Law was my son. Not tactful."

Went there for breakfast, £4.95 for all you can eat. This doesn't include drinks, which are priced at £1.20 for unlimited tea and coffee.The staff are always friendly, and willing to help. They welcome you in and are helpful explaining what the facility has to offer.The breakfast food, wasn't what I have expected from the Cardinals Hatt, we have eaten there a few times in the evening and the food was always brilliant. However, the buffet style breakfast serving meant, that some of the food was dry. They only had one choice of egg style, which under the heat lamps had turned a bit hard and rubber like. The beans hadn't been stirred for a while, so the top layer had formed a dry skin.The tea and coffee are self serve with a selection of tea bags and coffees in sachets, or heated jugs of normal coffee. Was disappointed as no juices were available self serve either. Tho the staff would have got me some but at a per glass basis.All in all £4.95 was an ok price for what you got.

Situated in Cornwall near a little place called Hatt.The pub is quite spacious and has a good selection of food. I had a nice carvery There was plenty of it. Service was good I didn't have to wait much at all. Nice clean and lovely style setting in the pub. Also a good selection of drinks. There is also a lot of parking space. And space to sit outside if weather is good. It was a pleasant experience which I will do again. I do reccomend this place for a visit.

Have been here on two consecutive Saturday evenings and the food and service could not have been more contrasting.The first day the staff and food were exceptional .The second day my wife picked the same meal and it was completely different in presentation and from the description on the menu. Also the staffs enthusiasm was lacking apart from one young man who was very helpful and apologetic for the difference in meal.

Had a carvery today, which they offer on a Wednesday and Sunday. Nice location with plenty of parking, welcoming and clean premises, very friendly and helpful staff. The food is delicious and good quality, the best carvery I've had. I would certainly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

I don't know what to say to express mine and my new wife's gratitude for everything that Kerry and the team did to make our special day so perfect. All the staff were very friendly and helpful the food was amazing. The accommodation was lovely too. We would most definitely recommend the cardinals hatt to anyone wanting to book a wedding. Absolutely loved staying here. Have now been here twice.The accommodation are mainly Chalets on suite. Toilet and then a separate bathroom. Car parking outside the Chalets. Plus beautiful greenery gardens behind.Reasonable rates per night. Worth staying if someone is visiting Portsmouth,and need peace and quiet. Quite tranquil.
