Caerwenfor Cottage
Stayed here first week of May and had an amazing time. This property is both bigger inside than photos seem and easier to commute to and from than I would have thought. There is a teething problem with the wifi ( connection is in and out) but if like me your happy to make the most of the view and area your in it's perfect.Recent hottub installed and i cannot recommend it enough the views from this are stunning.Property sits above the coastal path and can be reached withing a few minutes.Sorry not many photos of the cottage itself was too busy looking at the views!100% reccomend and will definitely be looking to return.

The location is amazing. It's remote, has stunning views and with a bit of careful navigation, you can access the Wales Coastal Path. The owner provides detailed instructions via email of how to get to the property, so if you don't have access to technology for navigation; there's no need to worry. There are many narrow lanes on the last part of the route permitting only one vehicle at a time so be prepared to drive slowly and reverse back to passing points. The road conditions vary so expect potholes, mud and water. For vehicles that have a low clearance, thinking specifically about sports cars, I would advise driving slowly for the final half-mile. There's ample parking in the driveway, and there's space for a large vehicle in front of the garage that's also undercover. The property has been furnished to a good standard with name brand appliances in the kitchen and utility room. There's a mixture of stone tiling and carpeting throughout. Heating is fully electric with radiators in all areas. Both bedrooms have king size beds, side tables and storage for clothing. The ensuite bathroom has a separate bath and shower with the main bathroom having a deluge shower over the bath. Utility room has a sink, washing machine and tumble dryer as well as recycling facilities. Adjacent to this is a small cupboard room for shoes, coats and wood storage. The log burner in the lounge is a prominent feature. A single basket of wood is provided as part of the rental with further supplies in the cupboard for a small fee. There is a Freeview television plus a drawer of DVDs and magazines. The binoculars and telescope have seen some wear over time, and are more of a decorative feature than usable. The kitchen has ample crockery, cutlery, pans, mixing bowls, and pretty much everything you'd expect to prepare food. The fridge has deep storage although the shelving and racks have seen better days. The extractor hood over the hob didn't work when we visited so the expect cooking smells to linger if it hasn't been rectified. There's plenty of preparation space and even some bar stools. Next to the kitchen you'll find a dining table with seating for four people. The interior overall could do with refreshing as it's looking a little tired in places. All the chrome fittings in the bathrooms are rusting, the deluge shower head you dare not touch as the fitting looks lose. The electric shower in the ensuite was temperamental, which we reported. The huge windows ideally need their units replacing, some more than others, as they remained fogged up, which is a shame for such an amazing view. There's damp showing above the lintels in the living area too.WiFi is included; however, given the remote location, the internet connection BT's broadband service and not fibre. While the router signal is pretty stable, the internet connection is slow and unreliable. Don't expect to be able to stream YouTube or Netflix content to your own devices. Mobile phone signal is patchy and when 4G is available is quicker than the in-property internet. We found the overall cleanliness quite lacking when we visited in October of 2020, which was surprising given the property is booked throughout the year. Lots of cobwebs and spiders in every room as well the bedside tables having a layer of dust on them (see photos). The bathroom cabinet in the ensuite had much evidence of previous items being stored. The edges of the carpets had lots of dead insects, most likely from the wood being stored indoors. The hot tub was a recent addition to the property in July 2020. An additional rental fee for this is required.Accessing the Wales Coast Path isn't an easy task, and there's no direct footpath to follow. You need to be steady on your feet and happy to walk through the undergrowth, on uneven ground that's slight off-camber and alongside gorse bushes. The welcome guide describes the route to follow, but you are doing so at your own risk.Overall, the property wow factor takes away the niggles you find.
