Called in for a light lunch on 13.12.23. I am a wheelchair user and as we entered the conservatory was met by a surly French bar man who just said “you can only come in here”!There were about 4 or 5 steps to the main dining area.I went to the disabled toilet, and all 3 WCs (ladies, gents and disabled were in a short narrow corridor just behind the reception desk. Another surly man was busy at the desk - he looked up and waved his arm - “over there” he said. The disabled toilet had a very narrow outward opening door. I had to square up to the door to get in - there was less than 5mm space either side of my chair.I could only get half in the toilet before hitting the toilet pan - because the room was only 1 metre by 1.4 metres! The toilet was set well away from the back wall so projected more than 1/2 way into the tiny room. There were an array of grab rails and 2 plastic bins which took up most of the space. I had to get off my wheelchair and push the chair out of the room to shut the door. I couldn’t have done this without my wife’s help. The receptionist, only feet away, was totally disinterested in the comments and noise we made trying to get me into the loo. The recommended standard for disabled toilets is 1.5m x 2.2m.What a joke, given the whole ethos of the hotel as a top quality dining and hotel venue! We had intended to use the hotel for a midweek 2 night break for 15 people next year but the welcome and disabled facilities ensured that was never going to happen!Extremely disappointed with the Lively Pubs ethos, if that is indicative of the group!

Visited here with my wife on a Friday night, the decor is absolutely stunning and the restaurant was packed which is always a good sign! Was greeted by a woman who i believe may be the owner and she was lovely, very welcoming and you got the sense that a lot of the customers were regulars. We were seated in the conservatory and served drinks while we waited for our table to be ready. Again the decor was very nice, comfy seats and a nice chilled vibe. Once seated at our table it was a very romantic setting, exactly what we had hoped for. Staff all seemed very friendly and service looked like it ran smoothly. We weren't designated a specific server, everyone seemed to chip in which we didn't mind. It just felt a bit difficult to know who to tip but in the end we discovered their was a service charge added to the bill anyway (absolutely no problem with this either, the service and food deserved it).For starters we shared the rustic bread; wow. How you can transform bread like that I'll never know, it was delicious and a very generous portion. Both of us had the 10oz sirloin steak with new potatoes for main, whilst sharing a side of truffle & Parmesan fries. My steak was cooked to perfection, exactly the way i like it and the quality of the food was unquestionable. For desert we had the vanilla & raspberry cheesecake which was stunning, one of the best I've ever had. And also the warm chocolate brownie with ice-cream, again delicious. Nothing can be said against the quality of the food here. The only negative i can say about our experience was that we didn't receive a table check to see if everything was ok with our meals. My wife had asked for her steak to be medium but unfortunately it was very much rare (bright red inside rather than pink). She ate as much as she could but it did dampen her enjoyment, once the waiter collected our plates he could of course notice she had left a fair chunk of the steak and asked if everything was ok with it. We explained the situation and he continued to take the plates to the kitchen, we didn't receive any feedback or anything.Upon receiving the bill i noticed that her steak had been removed from the total, of course this was appreciated but we just felt it could of been handled a little bit better. We felt a bit guilty if anything. If he would of returned from the kitchen and perhaps apologised or acknowledged that the steak was under cooked, possibly offering her a pudding on the house this would of been more than acceptable in our eyes.Overall though our experience was very enjoyable and as mentioned the quality of the food is very high. The hotel also looks beautiful. We will certainly be returning in the future!

Stayed here before and hope to stay again in the future. Best shower and biggest bed I've seen in a hotel. Staff are really welcoming and friendly/helpful. lovely and quiet, very relaxing. The only small negative is no swimming pool .

Fabulous rooms, great restaurant, great environment with great staff. Our group of eight were on a cycling holiday staying in nice hotels, this was by far the best. Could not fault so 5 stars seems inadequate.Even Mark mislaying my car keys did not cause much of an issue!

Honestly one of the best places I’ve stayed. The setting is beautiful, the restaurant and bar and amazing and the food is so incredible!!! Probably one of the best steaks and breakfasts I have had. The women who either manages the place or owns it is full of life and so hospitable too!! Me and the mrs have actually shortlisted this place to get married. Only a short drive from Stratford too! Highly highly recommend!

I took my wife and some friends here last night for my wife’s 60th birthday party. I cannot praise the staff enough for their service. Maggie, as usual excelled in directing the younger staff who were amazingly attentive. The food was absolutely first class. Nothing was too much trouble for the whole evening. We are regulars anyway, but I just want to say Thanks guys, we will be back very soon. 100% great service and also 100% value for money.

A terrific little retreat out in the comparative middle of nowhere for this Londoner. You could wake up to sheep out your window followed by a top notch breakfast included in the price of your room. Everything was clearly brand new but ran like a well oiled machine. Drinks and tapas the night before were also excellent but neither meal survived long enough to get photos. But, as a consolation prize, here’s a sheep.
