A lovely monument that stands in the heart of Bristol. It commemorates casualties from the first and second World War in a respectable fashion and always has flowers laid in November.

The area around it is always occupied by skateboarders. Messy and noisy. Not a place for a peaceful mind.

This memorial to men and women who gave their lives in both world wars is right in the centre of busy Colston Avenue. I found the verse inscribed on it very moving. There's also a Victorian drinking fountain and a memorial to the Forgotten Army" who fought in the Burma Campaign of 1942-1945. Plenty of seating all around. Constantly needed to watch out for fast bikes."
