Holmfirth Public Toilets

It can be difficult to find public toilets so I was glad to see that Holmfirth have managed to keep these open. They are centrally situated with separate areas for males, females and a disabled toilet. There is also a water fountain just outside to fill water bottles which was also great to see.According to signage it costs the local council 15,000 pounds a year to keep these toilets open and they ask for a minimum contribution of 20 pence per use to help with the upkeep and maintenance of the block. This is payable via an honesty system with a collection box for coins.The toilets themselves are clean but dated and of the metal variety. There was no hot water when I was washing my hands and the hand dryer was a bit lacklustre but there was plenty of toilet paper. Be prepared to hold the flush in until the full force of water hits the bowl. Others hadn't and the paper had built up.They need a complete overhaul but I understand that this is a massive expense. I also realise that some cleanliness issues are down to the people using them, so please make sure you give the toilets a proper flush and wipe down the seat if it needs it!

The toilet didn't flush properly, but otherwise the facilities were in reasonably good condition. Has a rather odd honest box outside asking for donations.
