Great open park areas and easy to walk around with your dog. Pretty much everyone here is friendly and polite. There are big dogs, small dogs, medium dogs, students, football for kids and even some people just smoking out . When the kids from the forest nursery are out there's always fun too

Fantastic for walking through the woodland with your family, friends or dogs. There are wheelchair and pram friendly pathways with a lovely oval grass area for children and fur babies to play.

I come here often for some peace and quiet. Very tranquil. It also has quite a large grassed area for kids to play on as you first enter the cemetery as its now a nature reserve.

I love walking through here, the grade 2 listed buildings and general ambience are very unique and provide me with a great sense of history. The recent renovations in 2023 have given it a new lease of life and everything looks in a lot better shape.

Nice place for a walk. Plenty of birds squirrels etc. It is a grave yard but interesting to visit. Not massive but we dropped in on way to Millhouses Park so pleasant 40 mins wander

There are many interesting grave stones in the Sheffield General cemetery, and there are many stories to go with them. One that has a particular interest to me is the grave stone of Mr John Fowler b. 8th December 1809 and d. 21st February 1859.I could not describe the gravestone but fortunately a newspaper article printed at the time certainly does it justice.Sheffield Independent Newspaper, Saturday 24th September 1859, under 'LOCAL INTELLIGENCE'.MONUMENT TO THE LATE MR. JOHN FOWLER — On the death of the late Mr. John Fowler, many of our townsmen felt that some permanent memorial of the regret generally experienced at the untimely close of his useful and honourable career, some durable recognition of his public and private virtues, should be erected at the cost of those who best knew his solid worth. This feeling does not appear to have evaporated or even slept, for the monument is not merely designed, but executed and erected. The more active management in such cases must ever be in the hands of a few, and it is therefore probable that many subscribers are still ignorant of the nature of the monument, and even of the site where it has been placed. We purpose, therefore, not merely to offer some description of it, but to indicate where it may be found. The site selected is in the grounds of the Sheffield General Cemetery Company, and immediately to the left of the steps leading from the drive in front of the chapel to the walk below, or nearly opposite the monument to the late George Bennet. The monument is in the style of the renaissance

My favourite place in the whole wide world. Yes, a cemetery is my favourite place in the whole wide world... It's so lovely and peaceful. The volunteers do an absolutely fantastic job maintaining this beautiful cemetery. My dog is also a big fan.

Really pleasant walking through here now. The brook has been cleaned up and the spring flowers are just beautiful. It has made a huge difference now that areas have been cleared.

A hidden gem between Ecclesall Road and Sharrow, Sheffield General Cemetery offers picturesque strolls in the shadow of the former Church.A historic reminder of the great and the good from the cities industrial past, the volunteer work going on is helping to reclaim the lost resting places from nature's grasp. The improvement over the last 10 years has been phenomenal and I hope the great work continues.
