We were greeted by a young lady who was very polite, as the landlady (I’m assuming) had just told her off for something so minor in front of a pub full of customers, so not a great start. It's a good location, 10 minutes from town and free parking. The room is basic but appreciated the little touched of toiletries and tea and coffees. It would be nice to have a lamp next to the bed. The only big fault we had is that the karaoke was on till 12am and it was very loud! We couldn't sleep until they stopped and had to be up early the next day. We didn't get a chance to have drinks or try the food but seemed like a great atmosphere as we passed through. If you stay here just make sure it's not on a night when the music is on as your room will literally vibrate. But still can't fault it for the price.

Friendly staff, late check in was not a problem, breakfast was great and the live entertainment till 11:30 was fun unless you want an early night.

We have just had two brilliant nights stay at The Victoria. Justin and Gary are lovely and really couldn't do enough for us. They have only very recently taken over the tenancy here and we wish them well as they are very anxious to make it a good experience for everyone. The room was great and bed very comfortable. Lovely white towels and toiletries also tea and coffee making facilities. Honestly couldn't find fault. Excellent place to stay if you are going to the Barbican.Good luck with your new venture Justine and Gary.Irene and Geoff.

Lovely pub with a lovely atmosphere run by friendly professional staff. Our group had a great time with great service would highly recommend. Well worth a visit

Not guests of the accomodation ,visited for the music.Inattentive bar service compared to other establishments ,university student area, close to the Barbican, suburb outside the city walls.

For a cheap stay. Can't complain. Some minor faults that can be rectified easily/cheaply enough. But as a just sleep n go" its fine. Short 10 minute walk into town and the sights around York.It said "may" have traffic on booking but unfortunately it's definitely heavy traffic from 6am to 10pm during week. Not a bother for me and half the price

Recently taken over can't really fault the hotel, Johnny and his staff were very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough to help during our stay. Pool and darts available in the bar and live entertainment on on a weekend night. Only a two minute walk from the barbican

3 night stay visiting York. Extremely pleasant staff, ideal brekky for the start of the day, & a nice quiet pint to fin the evening!
