Max Canine Dog Trainer and Behaviourist

My husband and I took our two year old rescue dog to Emily for the first time today… He was in for a behavioural consultation, following 18 months of spending countless money and time with an alternative behaviourist, with minimal improvement. Emily achieved more in one session with him, than the other trainers had even dared to achieve in a year and a half!Emily clearly deals with each patient individually and took the time to listen to us and assess our dog in multiple situations throughout the session. She knew just how to interact with him and by the end of the session our people-reactive dog was loving sitting on Emily and having a fuss.After this session we feel much more positive about the future and are really looking forward to what Emily can help us to achieve with him going forward!

Following a recommendation from a friend I booked in for a 1-2-1 with Max Canine. I met Kim in Sale for the session. The park was the perfect place to help my puppy learn how to interact with the world positively. Kim was brilliant. She put us at ease immediately and demonstrated everything in a really straightforward way, explaining the rationale clearly. She suggested adjustments when I wasn't quite getting something. She made me feel much more relaxed and confident to handle not only my pup but also situations outside my control, such as dogs coming over to say hello. After following Emily’s account since we got our pup back in February, my husband and myself agreed we felt she was the right person to support us with the ongoing training of our dog.From first contact Emily’s approach in thorough and individual. This is not a one size fits all approach. She took extensive details prior to our consultation and spent considerable time, energy and effort during our session to understand us, our dynamics and how we can work better to develop the handling of our dog.One thing that really stood out was how Emily was really supportive to us, she was consistently reinforcing and recognising what was working well which built our confidence for tackling the more tiring issues of impulse control on the lead!Our dog responded immediately to Emily and her methods. She demonstrated, explained and I left feeling like I understood my dog a lot better than when I arrived alongside having practical training ideas to implement into our daily walks.Another stand out part for us has been our after care. Being supported by Emily’s services is a continuous process. She’s been in touch with us post consultation, she’s put us in touch with other dog owners and I very much feel like we’ve got a sound counsel in Emily beyond the session.We are looking forward to the next session to build on where we are now.Cannot thank her enough.

Emily was so professional and knowledgeable. She was very kind and caring towards Dora and indeed us. Within an hour and a half she had sorted out why Dora was mouthing and how to deal with it. No medication needed. As well as how to stop her pulling on the lead like a steam train. Also, other issues were dealt with on grooming and going to the vet. Plus, Emily gives excellent back up. Well worth the fee, I would fully recommend her, as she has definitely helped with our confidence and enjoyment with Dora.

My partner & I are so pleased we found Max canine! We have a Lurcher from rescue that on & off is reactive in public or in the house with visitors, so far we have had 1 session of 1-2-1 behaviour consultation & modification in an outdoor busy area with positive results. We are now carrying out all that we have learnt in our day to day lives... so far so good!Emily is very knowledgeable about different breeds and pin pointed out Finns different characteristics. We cannot wait until the next session as we feel more confident & comfortable out & about with Finn.

Today I drove to Max Canine to meet Emily in Wales. Poppy is a 2 year old Labrador who needs training on neutral behaviour around sheep.Emily’s guidance and techniques today have shown me exactly what needs to be done to correct Poppy’s behaviour.I have the confidence to now put this into practice on our walks.I can’t thank Emily enough for her warm welcome and expert knowledge in this field.For anyone looking for a recommendation you’ve certainly found one.Thank you….

We are truly delighted to have met Emily through the recommendation of a corgi friend who is also training with Max Canine. They speak really highly of Emily and we totally agree. It was a great pleasure meeting and working with Emily, Mike and their lovely Labrador, Girl! Pumpkin had so much fun and she definitely enjoyed the cheesy treat she got when she adapted to the training well.We did a 3-day residential training with Max Canine and it was the best training experience we've ever had. Emily went all out to understand Pumpkin's personality, characters and behaviours in different settings and environments, targeting our area of concern as well as the underlying attributes. We went to places such as the busy Caernarfon town centre and the beach with lots of social stimuli, be it from people or dogs. Emily assessed Pumpkin's behaviour in various situations and gave us great tactics to work with her, using her traits as a pastoral (herding) breed. It's never been so effective! We observed and learnt how Emily worked with Pumpkin and we put the tactics into practice. We are so pleased that we could see great improvement in such short time, which proves that the need to understand her traits and intuitions is truly essential.Emily completely opened up our minds and she helps us work with Pumpkin at ease. We feel more confident and relaxed being out with Pumpkin, knowing that we are equipped with the knowledge and strategies to work with Pumpkin. We used to be embarrassed with Pumpkin being pretty vocal when she is excited and she is hyper-active, hyper-friendly and super distracted. After the training, we are more opened about it now, knowing that many don't know that corgis are pastoral dogs, hence feel wary with her. We know now it's completely normal and we are encouraged to communicate with other dog owners to let them know in case Pumpkin goes saying hi. Nonetheless, we know being consistent is the key to Pumpkin being more moderate and we look forward to using all the training tools we learnt from Emily for her continuous improvement.We love how Emily goes above and beyond even after our training sessions. She encourages us to keep in touch with her on how Pumpkin does and if we need advice and help anytime so we can have a peace of mind. We highly recommend Max Canine for just any levels of dog training.(P/S: Pumpkin had a go at sheep herding the first time too, and she did excellent! We're not sure if she knew she was actually herding, but we were so amazed and amused watching her do her thing! =D) We can't thank you enough, Emily for this truly amazing training experience!

Emily was very professional and knowledgeable. She is clearly a very experienced dog handler and Roo liked her. We had a walking session with Emily to help us lead train our 11 month old Goldendoodle puppy. Emily’s approach was firm but very kind and knowledgeable. Within the hour she had taught us how to handle Dexter in a way where he wasn’t pulling on his lead and walking calmly beside us. We have previously had other trainers who have been either heavy handed or too reward focused which didn’t work for us, I can’t recommend Emily enough!
