Churchdown Cattery & Kennels

My dog Mia is 12 years old & had never been in a kennel alone. She has been in this kennel before but always with another dog. I was so nervous about taking her there as recently she had been diagnosed with pancreatitis and the vet said that she could get a flare up due to anxiety. However, it turned out the lovely staff looked after her so well and introduced her to another lonely little dog & she was so happy & didn’t need any medication and I wouldn’t hesitate using this wonderful kennel again, in fact I have arranged her going back later in the year. Mixed reviews… I want to give 5 stars but I just can’t. Firstly the place and people are lovely, and our boy Scruffy had the best first time at their kennels, it really is 5 star service! However at no point during the booking process was it explained that overnight classes as 2 days. We dropped Scruffy off at 10am, and collected him 10am the following day… so a perfect 24 hours. This meant that what we thought would be £25 for a 24 hour stay, ended up being £50 which is not competitive with other kennels. We questioned this immediately and apparently nope, that’s completely right so we reluctantly paid the £50. We have tried a few kennels now, and none of them have charged in this manor; usually one day is considered a 24 hour period. We’d love to say we’d use Churchdown Kennels again, but honestly for £50 for one night, I think that is a bit ridiculous and not competitive to kennels that offer the same service.

Update, as I cannot respond to the Cattery's response below. this review is posted on behalf of myself and my partner. Our cat Poppy stayed with you 29th July 2023 until 12th August 2023. £15 x 14 = £210 not £230, My mistake. I am happy to post photos of the state you left the travel basket in if you wish?AVOID. I would not recommend this place for the cattery side. We just collected our cat (Poppy) after leaving her here for 14 days. When we arrived we struggled to have a conversation with the staff due to dogs constantly barking loudly, not a nice environment for a cat. She was given a new Executive suite" which was a really nice newly built enclosure. We supplied our own food for her to eat as she can be fussy

Took our dog for a sleepover to see if he'd settle as it was his first visit to a kennels.. he was well looked after. Girls are lovely and friendly. All the dogs looked happy and it was spotless. Needless to say he is now booked in for a week while we go on holiday knowing he will be fine.

I have been taking my dog Wilbert here since he was a puppy. And he lives his little holiday with them, and even recognises the attendees now. They are always so helpful and accommodating, especiall6 with finding room for him last minute.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for taking such wonderful care of my cat. It's clear that you provided excellent care and attention, and I greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much for looking after my furry friend!

Milo had the most wonderful two weeks at churchdown kennels! Amber was so reassuring that he would be looked after well and even went the extra mile to send me photos of him and update me on how he was doing! The care at this kennel is excellent and it meant I could relax knowing he was in good hands! Can’t wait to use them again !
