Upon check out of rented property, imagine we’re provided with inventory report which noted minor cleaning dilapidations. Imagine have interpreted this as reason to claim the cost of a professional clean from our deposit. I have asked imagine to look at the check in inventory which will highlight to them that the property was domestically cleaned when we moved in, and that we returned the property in a cleaner state than when we moved in. For example, I have provided them with images from the check in report to show that the cleaning dilapidations were far worse when we moved in than when we moved out. They have no interest in discussing this with me or looking at the move in inventory to compare the condition at check in and check out. They are simply saying we will have to dispute this, and we will be going through the dispute process however this could be avoided if they would look at the move in inventory and be open to a discussion with us, rather than replying with blunt and unhelpful emails.It seems like they assume that as the appeal process takes a long time people are unlikely to do it and so they take advantage of this.I have spoken to the independent clerk who carried out the check out inventory and they have confirmed that they simply report on the condition of the property at check out, and it is the role of the estate agent/ landlord to consider this in the context of the condition at move prior to making deductions - which imagine have not done which is unprofessional.
