Ok for myself, only because I was standing at the front near air conditioning unit albeit still drenched in sweat, couldn't have handled being mud crowd...Free water, security not heavy handed...Few toilet cubicles for the size of event and lots of stairs, fine for myself but not Accessible...Fab show & MC working the crowd, or would have been three stars!!!!

Took my granddaughter to see a selection of bands. Organisation great, doorman very good with the predominantly young female audience, including getting chairs and water for those who were too hot or excited. Inside was pleasant. Obviously seen better days, and decor a little tired, but absolutely fine for what this. Staff inside attentive, including bar staff who kept drinks flowing. Overall very pleased venue.

Amazing venue and the live bands are awesome too...however drinks are exceptionally expensive and it's not exactly accessible for people with walking disabilities.

Typical of many places nowadays. This is an ancient cinema of former dubious reputation. Tonight there were, i understand three simultaneous concerts on different floors. There are no lifts to top floor, so as a disabled person, i had to climb several flights of stairs to be confronted by a rooftop venue mainly standing room only with few seats. Poor for the elderly or disabled, right up there with the other nightmare that is SWG3. This took me by surprise as on my only previous visit i was in the ground floor seated main old cinema where i thought someone like Sari Schorr and her excellent band would have merited playing. Entertainment should be able to be enjoyed in a modicum of comfort. Even 90 mins of football is served up in a seated stadium with great disabled facilities. Too many venues just thrust a take it or leave it situation on paying customers

Good as a raver, not good as a promoter holding an event here, the whole night bombarded by staff about where our punters were" but then turned most of the potential customers away at the door by saying "oh not many people have shown up" as there was a sold out event upstairs that was totally opposite to what we were doing. No contact from the owner on the day and no coordination

This is probably what nightclubs should all be like and not just in gritty 90's TV shows, slightly shabby dark and grimiy. A good place to see a band and hang out with friends and drink and dance. Yea the toilets are grimy in keeping with that true dive bar feel and the bar should really accept card (or maybe even contactless, some of the future is worth having) but for loud bands (or quiet ones ) with a cult following this is a sweet spot.

Attended for 1994 event. Decent security, nice staff throughout from cloak room to bar. Excellent night.

Saw Beth Orton here last month was really disappointed with the venue as I used to love it. The first warning sign that the venue couldn’t care less about the gig experience was at the bar. My friend and I arrived at 8pm and we asked for a glass of white wine. It was sold out already! Really? Who is in charge of the stock? I was looking forward to a cold pint of draught lager but instead I got a warm can of Tennents. I felt like I was back in a student union - not a venue that claims to be one of the best in Scotland. It was so disappointing and shows that the venue couldn’t care less about meeting the basic needs of punters. My friend had a glass of red wine but when she went to order a second glass it transpired that all the red wine had gone too. That was before 9pm! Worst of all was how dirty everything was. We sat on the wooden bench at the back and the seating was sticky and gross. Is the venue ever cleaned? The gig itself was great and the sound quality and intimacy is top notch. However, the bar staff made it clear they just wanted to finish their shift and started clearing up drinks with a bin bag and a slop bucket a good half hour before the end. At one point I had to watch the gig with a slop bucket a few inches from my face into which all the dregs were being chucked. Overall, I feel that the the venue owner isn't interested in creating anything special which is a shame as the venue could be fabulous if it was given a little more love and attention. When you’re having a night out and you’ve paid good money for a ticket you expect a basic level of cleanliness, staff training and a well-stocked bar. There’s certainly nothing ‘grand’ or ‘classic’ about this venue.
