Shrewsbury Museum & Art Gallery

Great Place and its so beautiful in the old theatre, which is where the museum is now.I have fond memories of seeing pantomimes and Brigadoon which is why I went to see the exhibition on the theatre. Also Wilfred Owen a War Hero who lived on Monkmoor Road in Shrewsbury and I went to the primary school named after him.

Fantastic, well worth a visit! It's free too but please contribute if you can. Great selection of works of art by world famous artists. The volunteers are very friendly and helpful. Will visit again without doubt.

A very well curated museum detailing many historical artifacts from the area. Throughout the museum there is a story to follow which brings the history to life. There is a special exhibition hall on the top floor. Particularly loved the Banksy and the David Hockney pieces. Manned by volunteers who are very knowledgeable and are eager to share their knowledge. Thankyou - really enjoyed our visit.@MyBucketListAt60

Lovely museum and gallery. Went to see the Dali Sculptures but really enjoyed the rest of the exhibits. Well worth a visit whilst in Shrewsbury.

Really interesting museum, all about the Roman history of the town, right up to modern day and some of the famous past residents, like Charles Darwin. Building itself is also beautiful. Totally free.

Great free museum with a really good mix of history (Roman, medieval, local industries & famous people like Darwin & Admiral Benbow), art & crafts (local & international, including currently some great Dali sculptures, wool, ceramics and lots of historical paintings, e.g.17th century) and natural history (the usual stuffed animals etc). There is also a cafe with indoor & courtyard seating and a shop with some fun arty products & Shrewsbury souvenirs. We didn't have time / energy to see everything, you could spend the best part of a day here if you wanted to peruse everything. The highlight and most memorable exhibit on our visit was the Corbet Bed, made in 1593 and on loan from the V & A. The embroidered throw and hangings are just a dream. There is also a lovely stained glass piece from a contemporary artist to commemorate a local stained glass artist and an amazing pottery clock made by someone on the Great Pottery Throwdown.

Nicely repurposed historic building. So much better now its free. Local history & collections with temporary exhibition. Loved the Dali statue in the courtyard while we are delicious food. Staff were friendly & helpful. We look forward to visiting again.

An excellent place to spend a few hours learning all about the history of Shrewsbury and Shropshire. They have many local artefacts dating from the stone age right through to the modern era. Also included is a cafe and a gift shop where you can get books and all sorts of items with a local connection. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful museum with and excellent exhibition of art including Salvador Dali and Jacob Chandler. They also have a really nice cafe serving great coffee.
