I have lived in clever accom for two years now. The first year they allowed 6+ people to move into 2 spare rooms, and after complaining for months. NOTHING HAPPENED. I lived with mostly girls and having more people u don’t know coming into your home even toddlers sometimes was NOT OKAY.This year might be worse, as mould and water damage has taken over the house. It took from July this year till now for them to say they’ll try and sort it. I have had multiple tests done and the doctors have said i have a mould allergy, which makes living here impossible.I’m actually having to pay for a hotel for myself. Will the landlord listen no, will clever listen no. Nothing gets reported back, you have no idea what is happening or what the long term plan is. They don’t care about students, they care about the money we will give them without questioning!If you’re going with clever you better be either brave or stupid. They way they speak to you on the phone is disgusting and you end up with massive bills and you don’t even know how it happened. Clever has genuinely destroyed my uni living experience, leaving a third year student too ill to even leave the house. Be careful with landlords also clearly they see humans as business and don’t actually care. If you’ve had a viewing on St.Lawrence RdI’m already sorry.

Initially had a decent experience booking our flat. There were a few issues with the tenancy agreement so it had to be altered a few times and had some contradictions to what we had been told in person. But we paid our deposit and didn’t hear anything else really until check in, which was a little nerve wracking but all was fine. The overall condition of our flat could be better, it is quite tired and in need of some renovations. But we knew this when we booked, it was just within budget and big enough for two of us. On arrival, the bulb blew in the bathroom, followed my the toilet seat falling off, the shower head being taped to the wall and the windows only being able to be closed from the outside. A cupboard in the communal hallway which contains gas/water meters is not properly floored and has a roughly 2ft wide hole leading directly to the foundations of the house. The door to this cupboard does not shut fully either. There were also lots of cobwebs the flat was just quite dirty in general. I think it had been cleaned between tenants, just very poorly. The outside of the property was full of litter and overgrown plants, this was reported to maintenance as I knew it would attract rats and mice. The bathroom light has blown again since and we were left using our phone torches to shower for three weeks. There are a few issues with mould and damp, which is understandable as the house is very old and has tall ceilings. But for the past two weeks we have been seeing mice around our flat. We initially saw one in the bathroom which ran into one of the many holes in our bathroom floor. You can hear them running in the walls at various times of day. Today we saw one run across our kitchen floor before disappearing again. It has been over a week since reporting the mice and nothing has been done about it. They have classed this as non-emergency maintenance, but I have to disagree due to the risk of disease carried by rodents, primarily leptospirosis which is transmitted through water. The mice clearly have access to the bathroom, kitchen/living room and most likely our bedroom too.

Matthew James Turner, took me for the viewing, we found it so difficult to find the house, but Matthew was so good and patient. It felt like we are in a comedy show but in a good way though. We found the property eventually all thanks to Matthew he was very professional.
