A lovely comfortable stay in Gatehouse. Rooms are great. Good bed. Classy bathroom. Breakfast is tasty, thoughtful and generous. Restaurant food is very good. If one was being very picky, everything is a bit new. For a cosy winter stay atmosphere needs a little time to develop. Don't let that put you off though. Highly recommended.

Great stay on route to the North Coast 500. The hotel is located in a lovely little town just off the main road. The town has a few cafes, shops and eateries. The staff were really attentive making you feel most welcome. Food and drink was to a good standard and offered a range of meals. All rooms were clean and comfortable.

Sarah and Jonathan were exceptional hosts. Rooms were spotlessly clean and beds were super comfortable.Breakfast was fantastic. We were there for a wedding and booked 2 rooms but will definitely be going back to stay. Hidden gem of a hotel in a quaint village. Highly recommend.

Stopped in for a Sunday lunch, place was empty as we were early doors, but people started to come in over the next hour. Very nice decor and comfortable inside. Dogs welcome which was great. Lovely really fire on a cold October day. Food was good and reasonably priced for the Sunday roast.

(Reviewing for both food and rooms, because after several decades, Google still hasn't realised that you can do both at many places)Food is excellent with a good menu, much of it sourced locally. Service is friendly, verging on banter, and it's an enjoyable experience all round. Despite the name, it's not a pub at all, although there is a bar.The rooms are excellent: fresh, simple and pleasant to sit in and rest. One room had somewhat limited sitting space (just the one armchair) and could have done with another. Very good bathroom and shower. There's no car park but there is easy street parking outside and a free public car park just 50m away with eight Type 2 EV chargers.Have stayed three times now and will be back.

A beautiful place. The hotel was welcoming, friendly, very efficient and sumptuous. We booked a family room and it was luckily set with the view of the Fleet bridge. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spick and span. Good sized bathroom with a powerful shower/ bath. Piping hot water. For dinner we had the liver pate and the Scallops, black pudding and pea puree starters followed by the Red Sea Bass, Haddock and Chips & beautifully cooked steak pie. For dessert we had a beautifully light cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and Shantilly cream. We were served quickly for drinks on arrival at the restaurant and the food was brought to the table in good time between courses. All perfectly presented and very tasty. We had a wonderful overnight stay finishing with the full Scottish and continental breakfast. 5/5 completely satisfied and very happy. Thank you to the lovely staff.

Fabulous! We just spent 5 nights here as part of a small cycling tour (5 people) and couldn’t have been more delighted. Food: outstanding. Staff and service: first class. Our room: spotless, king bed super comfortable with quality linens, large bathroom with great shower and tub. Quiet sleeping and lovely village to wander through. Friendly community. Good eats nearby. We hope to be back because this is a terrific cycling hub in Dumfries & Galloway. Thank you, Jonathan and team. Bravo!

Went for lunch with my dad. He's in a wheelchair so not everywhere is suitable to take him. He had a lovely lunch of freshly battered haddock which he throughly enjoyed and a chocolate brownie sundae which he polished off too highly recommend

We called in for a meal, and we weren’t disappointed, we stayed for a drink after and it was a lovely place. Kids menu available as well and dogs welcome, they have a beer garden where food is served until 5.30pm, it’s across a quiet road to the beer garden, and it’s next to the river.
