Jim Fleeting Guitars

Jim has re-fretted my brother's Taylor CE214 and set it up. He also rescued my first acoustic guitar from 1974- an EKO ranger- by replacing a broken machine head and fixing the bridge that was about to fall off. He set up a 1970s Yamaha for our friend who is very pleased that it is now easier to play and sounds superb. He has just set up a Gibson ES 335. He is friendly, knowledgeable and happy to explain how he will fix the instrument. He's also good for a chat about guitars in general. Choosing a technician to work on precious instruments- and expensive ones, too- is very important- I had one bad experience with a tech back in the 1990s. Jim is a master luthier and repairer who I would trust with any instrument from my collection. Many thanks to you, Jim.

Jim has sorted out two of my guitars, a Jazzmaster and a Taylor acoustic from pretty much unplayable to beautifully set-up. He’s great to deal with, takes the time to explain what he’s doing and why and very accommodating to changing schedules. Thanks Jim!

Took my new Martin acoustic to Jim for a set up and couldn’t be happier with the job he’s done on it. The action is now wonderfully low and intonation perfect. Fast turn around and a lovely guy. Great professional service.

Just had my Rickenbacker 330/12 serviced and new strings by Jim Fleeting Guitars, Stockport.It has NEVER sounded this good in the three years I've had it.Absolute first class service, friendly, inexpensive.I cannot recommend Jim Fleeting enough.Thanks Jim, I feel like I've been given a new guitar today!

I brought Jim a challenge! He worked on my Eastman fan fret which was having poor intonation and a mysterious buzz. Jim unrelentingly found the buzz issue and fixed (an issue I had since I owned the guitar and the company who sold it to me could not fix it!). He also fixed the intonation. He basically sorted everything for a very reasonable price and with the utmost professionalism and customer service. He's a gem.

Bought a handmade guitar made by Jim in a shop in Barrow. Caught my eye over everything else in the shop. Never seen anything like it before. Looks stunning, plays beautifully. Minor issue with the strap lock that Jim was happy to go out of his way to fix. Very happy : ) Recommended

Jim was really knowledgeable, honest and helpful providing advice about a guitar my son had been given. I really have no idea about Guitars so having someone advise who clearly knew his stuff was great. Unfortunately it wasn’t worth repairing the guitar so Jim went out of his way to provide me with recommendations for where to buy a new one and which one would be best to buy for my son who is a beginner. As the guitar was in the family he even suggested my son could put it on the wall and told me how I could clean it up, great idea! I had a brilliant experience with Jim, who fixed my Faith guitar after a previous person I went to was unable to spot an issue that Jim spotted within seconds. Very reasonable prices, honest and a good person to talk to. He fixed the issues with my guitar in a timely manner and kept me updated. I will definitely be using him again in future when I have further guitar problems that need sorting out.
