Alder Veterinary Practice

Very sadly, due to the cost of a consultation rising to £45, I can longer afford to come here. This rise hits only the poorest pet owners, who will avoid going to the vet. Much better to keep it low for the sake of animals, and increase the cost of treatment and meds by say 15% to ensure you keep customers and increase the numbers of people bringing pets to you, *particularly* pensioners and people on low fixed incomes. Even though I have emergency money for vet bills, just bringing a few animals to be looked at a couple of times, will cost hundreds, even before the cost of medication.And I cannot imagine the owner of a sick guinea pig or rabbit rushing to see a vet at £45 as soon as you walk through the door.The staff are wonderful though.

I have recently moved to the area and was very impressed by this practice. Deidre took the time to really understand my concerns and asked plenty of probing questions. She thoroughly checked Bert over and offered sound advice offering treatment for a potential infection and advising on next steps if that doesn't work for him. (Debbie Mitchell).

Fantastic vets! They truly care and are very welcoming and you feel at ease with your pet straight away.

Alders were a great support to us with our last dog Clint, from the time we found him dumped by the roadside, to his last two years when he suffered diabetes and blindness, but continued to enjoy life to the full. When we recently adopted Monty, the choice of Vet was a no brainer!

After visiting another vet practice spending over £1000 and still not getting a correct diagnosis we decided to come to Alder for a second opinion. They were able to diagnose liver issues with our dog at the first appointment and give advice that just worked. Never have I felt so grateful.

My cat was seen 3 weeks ago and given a steroid injection total cost including consultation £77. The vet then requested a follow up in 3 weeks to see how she was getting on after the injection. I returned yesterday 26th Jan, I was literally in the vets room for less than 6 minutes, they then had the audacity to charge me another consultation fee of £45 (which had increased in price by £8 since my first visit). I have never known a vets charge another consultation fee when the follow up is at the vets request. I tried to dispute the charge with the receptionists but was basically told nothing they could do and I should email the practice owner. The vet was lovely but their charges are ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!

Good vet but ridiculously expensive!
