Catherine's Bakery
Went to get cakes. Bought some really huge muffins. They have different flavours and Pleanty of choice and hot food too. I will definitely go back for more. I knew it when it was Jaspers. I would say it hasnt lost its charm. Bread looked ok and when you buy fresh it always hardens when you leave it otherwise it would have preservatives. Fresh food great flavours and great service hence 5 stars

Catherine's Bakery has replaced the Jasper's bakery business on Newport High Street. It is operating with Covid safe measures in place and as an essential business it is still open and trading ( Friday 15 January 2021) . We visited and did not have to queue . We bought a bread bloomer and we were impressed by the fresh quality of the bread.

Excellent bread & other products. However, following on from a ;post about food hygiene a month ago. I was in the Newport store on Saturday. All staff were wearing gloves, some with holes in but were handling produce i.e bread without changing gloves after handling money. This begs the question as to why they were wearing gloves in the first place. Gloves transfer a virus just as easily as bare hands. Bread I purchased was sliced, and handled again, then put into a plastic bag, handled with the same gloves. The government advice about hand washing has been lost somewhere along the line. I'm really surprised that nothing has been changed following the post on the same topic a month ago. IU have to say that I won't be purchasing again until I am confident that hygiene has improved.

Past this bakery and really wanted to have a look and try some food. Looked so nice inside and outside. But unfortunately I was left very disappointed. As soon as we entered we was approached with what can I get you"?. We had never been here before so wanted to have a chance to look first. Everything looked delicious but unfortunately nothing was labelled with what it was or what it contained and nothing was priced. The shop was getting busier and we were getting the feeling of being rushed. I asked what a few things were but soon got fed up of that. In the end we purchased a sausage roll

Stopped off for lunch and wanted a changed from Garage & Gregg's offering.Good sized and reasonable priced food, all freshly prepared that day.Roast beef salad roll was £3 & steak slice £1.70, which is in line with Gregg's & other bakerys. Will visit again when in the area.

We ordered two large sandwiches and had a cake each. The service was fantastic. They went out of their way and made fresh sandwiches, as my partner is autistic and can be particular about food, we found this very helpful. The sandwiches were absolutely delicious! Everything was so fresh and tasty. I went to a different bakery a few days ago and the quality cannot be compared. Would recommend and will definitely be coming again.

Went to Newport Saturday bought 2 fresh cream fruit scones from catherine's. What a disappointment, they were basically bread rolls with cream and a small amount of jam. I had 2 sultanas In one half of my scone and non in the other half, my husband didn't fare any better. An attractive looking shop but won't go again.

We buy bread weekly! Very good quality, tasty both fresh and toasted, my kids love it too. Recently I ordered sandwiches and cakes for work. The quality was far better than occado or M&S I used before. They were very good even following day (kept in fridge). I am very pleased we have Catherine's bakery in our town!

Went here with my 6 year old daughter today and she unfortunately had a coughing fit whilst we were inside, one of the staff members was amazing and gave her a bottle of water to help. We have savory food which was delicious, the cakes looked AMAZING! Will definitely be back and thank you for helping my daughter!

What can I say. Proper old school bakery with the best baps I have eaten in years. Good selection of cakes and pasties too.
