Public art - The Ploughman and Ox statue
This steel statue was unveiled in August 2018. It is of a medieval ploughman ploughing with his Ox. It commemorates the old ridge and furrow" system of farming that used to be prevalent in this area in medieval times.This area of Leicester used to be farm fields known as the North Fields in those times (the Council estate adjacent to Towers Park recalls this as it is called the Northfields estate).On the base of the sculpture are various details of the (now mostly obsolete) imperial methods of measurement used then (rods
