Inverawe Smoked Foods, Fine Meat & Game

Placed our usual Christmas order of smoked salmon and terrines which are now stashed away in the freezer until the big day. Decided to order a haggis as not tried one from Inverawe before. We had it for supper tonight and both thought it was very disappointing. Dry and stodgy with not enough pepper at twice the price of our normal brand. Won’t be buying it again.

1st time in a while visiting the cafe after renovations. As a previous and regular visitor to the café over the last 18 months, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a lovely makeover to the café and shop. Such nice friendly staff as well.I have given only 3 stars this time as I have left with mixed feelings around the available menu choices. Everything l could see was of a high standard and of a high quality. Where I was disappointed was on the available menu choice and prices. Now It may well be that there is a reason for a limited menu , however having previously popped in for toasties cakes and the like in the past at reasonable prices, the menu seemed to be a bit more high end" and pricy for the limited food options. This would to me limit the café to a one time destination rather than a regular stop in. Perhaps that is the intention for the clientele wanted

5 stars for excellent customer services. My online order disappeared despite payment. Customer services sorted the issue within 24 hours. Very helpful staff over the telephone. Have used this company for many years n can't fault them. Thanks so much for sorting it so promptly

Simply the best Braden rost and smoked salmon even with the smoke house fire issues... and that's saying something with the stiff local competition. Worth the wee trip along the road or a short walk across the river from taynuilt. Coffee good too

Found this place when doing a stay-cation to West Scotland.Unfortunately it seems that now the visitors centre is gone.Such a shame because it was wonderful- a really fantastic visit, getting to learn all about the history of Scottish fishing, and how salmon is farmed and smoked.The cafe was great too, chance to taste the beautiful smoked fish. I tried smoked trout which I'd never had before- it was amazing, more delicate than smoked salmon.We order from Inverawe every year now for christmas- service is phenomenal.

For the highest quality Argyll and Scottish food you cannot beat Inverawe Smokehouses. Used them for years and visited their shop on many occasions. It is so nice to be able to get, and receive, their foods for ourselves, and to give as gifts. Wonderful. A Sassenach from Ramsgate, Kent

I have fished Inverawe Fishery on numerous occasions over the last twenty years and never had a complaint until today. The last time I visited the fishery was about four years ago and today the changes are clearly visible. When I turned up this morning I was told that the ponds are no longer stocked daily and instead its once a week. I was also told that any fish over 4lbs must be returned along with any brown trout. This did not concern me too much as I was also told that the ponds are well stocked and advised to fish the lily pond and middle pond. The lily pond is now extremely difficult to fish and in fact can only be fished from about two or maybe three locations. The middle pond is also difficult to fish due to the amount of weed in the water and the height of the grass that surrounds the pond.The bottom pond can now only be fished from one side due to the platforms rotting and again the grass is far too tall. I remember in past occasions that this fishery was advisable to book before turning up as it was so busy, not now. I purchased a 4hr permit for £25.50 with a two fish limit, there is also a 8 hour permit for £39.50 with a 3 fish limit and a catch and release for 4 hrs at £16. I fished all three ponds over the four hours and seen very little movement in the water and also left empty handed with no takes. This again is a little unusual, but what I found very surprising is I was the only angler on the ponds on a Saturday morning.

The website is well out of date. The shop now in place of the smokery, Sithaig, has a meagre offering of Inverawe product. The relocated smokery appears to be closed to the public. Disappointing.

I sent 'The Gift Box for One' to my friend for her birthday. It was delivered exactly when they said it would and protected very well. She absolutely loved it, she said it was the best Trout Pate, Potted Salmon and Smoked Salmon she had ever had. She said it was such a treat and she felt so special. She immediately went on to the website to order another one for themselves, but they were sold out. I would like to try for myself, so as soon as they have this gift box back in stock, I'll be putting an order in. Can't wait.Edited to add: since ordered for myself a few times and it’s so so good! Have also sent it as gifts to other friends, always appreciated as a treat!!

turned up at the fishery very early, the cafe had just opened, I spoke to the very nice lady behind the counter, my partner ordered Tea and scones whilst i had a coffee, my partner went on her walks as i went to the hydro pool to wet a line and try my hand at catching a trout. i bought a 4 hour ticket for 3 fish, i was back after 3 hours with 3 good sized rainbows, I will be up in scotland again in the new year and will definately be fishing this venue again, excellent place and great little ponds well stocked and beautifull scenery .
