They've been servicing my bikes for near enough ten years so this review is well overdue. Rate them 5 stars and happy to travel to them from the other side of Edinburgh. They're honest, trustworthy, don't oversell, service is always excellent and leaves the bike in tip-top condition. Communication before, during and after is spot on and leaves you feeling assured.One of the few service businesses in Edinburgh where you get genuine value for money. Giving them a review is the least I can do to say thanks for so many years of excellent service and help in a welcoming environment.

I went to this shop to get my front basket holder fixed after it had broken. They said they needed to move my dynamo light for this. I trusted their judgement. I paid £40 for the new strut and labour. However, the light was put at right-angles and no longer pointed enough in the right direction so it was unsafe to cycle down dark roads. I went back, and asked them to fix it. They put the light back to the original position but removed the basket holder. They told me it was impossible to do it any other way and charged me again £15 for labour. So in total I paid £55 to have it back the way it started (although I did now have a strut). My partner bought me a bracket and screws for less than a pound from a hardware store and we were able to attach the light in the correct orientation on the side plus the basket-holder in about half-an-hour. So I would say it was really lazy and uncreative on their part and dishonest of them to charge me so much when I ended up with nothing. Other times they have been friendly and helpful to me though so they are not awful but I am still very disappointed and frustrated and will not return.

Only ever had great dealings with all the staff at The Bicycle Works. Been in with numerous different bikes and numerous issues over the past few years since starting cycling. Always incredibly helpful and knowledgable.I have a road bike and they seem to be able to locate the problem quickly and come up with a solution very quickly. Super accommodating and willing to help with any small issues when passing. From what I can gather, it is the same with any sort of bike that is in the shop, from commuter bike to mountain bike and every in between.I can't recommend them enough and will always take my bike here.

Had a mechanical issue with the Di2 on my TT bike and despite being extremely busy, the team (Davis) was able to tune my gears and performed a general check of my bicycle in less than 48 hours. Honest, genuine and knowledgeable team, will definitely keep using them. Many thanks again for saving my bicycle!

Friendly, honest , professionals that are well priced. did an excellent job on a wheel rebuild for me and extremely quick turn around. Would recommend to everyone.Update long term.however I haven't been able to seal my rims tublessly since I had a rebuild here . after going to a bike shop and spending another 30GBP turns out this place had only gone around my rims once with Rim tape. the standard is 2.5 times minimum. so this has cost me another 30 GBP at a bike shop. more tubeless sealant and hours of messing around trying to get my tubeless rims to seal. not ideal! won't be coming here again

I use my bike everyday for work and commuting and today my tyre went flat as a pancake. First I was just grateful this place was open when I got back to town at 7pm but I then I walked through the door and when John asked if I could wait while he fixed it then and there and I could have cried with relief. 10 minutes later I had a new tube and a fully functioning bike, for a fraction of what I was prepared to pay. Can’t recommend this place enough, especially when you’re in a pinch.

Amazing service! Helped me out with a new rack when I was in a tight spot, going out of their way to get me and my pannier back on the bike and on my way very quickly! Really solid rack and very friendly too. Great value service. Thank you!!

Fantastic local bike shop. Have used bicycle works for a number of years now and they have been consistently excellent. Friendly advice, not at all snooty or dismissive. No job too big or small, with often great turnaround times and honest and reasonable prices. Quality of work has also been brilliant, I always love the cycle home, the bike always feels awake..! Can't recommend them enough!

Excellent and thorough bike servicing. A full receipt of every check/tweak was provided and I really trusted them with my bike! Favourable opening hours for anyone working is a real +++ for me!!
