BLUE BADGE HOLDERS BEWARE!My mum is a blue badge holder. Sometime in the summer, my parents parked at Telford Central and caught the train to Wolverhampton to meet a friend who was coming to stay with them. They were careful to park in the correct bays and display the blue badge the same as they've always done. And then a few months later, they received in the post a penalty notice in the amount of £60!My parents are not tech savvy and even if they'd realised that they needed to register online it would have been very difficult, if not impossible for them to do so, especially on their phones in the station car park. My parents haven't got a clue as to what a QR code is or how to use one. Most blue badge holders, like my parents, are elderly and probably also technologically challenged.My parents paid the charge that was levied but they were completely bewildered by the whole experience as they really believed they had done the right thing. It left them feeling afraid to use the station car park in case it happened again! Incidents like this rob them and others of their independence.
