Hotel Indigo York, an IHG Hotel

The location of this hotel was ideal for our stay in York.Unfortunately, we didn't feel it had the atmosphere of other Indigo hotels we have visited. The hotel is a modern building surrounded by student accommodation. Our room was bland and cold when we arrived. During our stay there were no speciality teas available, hardly any selection of gin, no wine glasses at the bar (and a barmaid who rolled her eyes to another guest when asked for wine glasses!) I think this hotel has a long way to go to meet the standards of the Indigo brand, but was okay as a base for a midweek stay.

Recently stayed here for a night while visiting York, hotel is really well located within walking distance of the town. Due to its location there is no car park however you have a 10 minute grace period to drop off bags on the road to the side of the hotel. Despite checking in around 1pm all the hotel spaces in the nearest car park were already taken but the reception staff were very helpful in pointing out the most convenient ones not just the closest ones.Breakfast was very good if a bit chaotic when we went down, maybe because a lot of people turned up at the same time. But orders were taken quickly and the food that came out swiftly was really tasty.Rooms were really nicely decorated, beds were really comfortable little extras like water, coffee machine, biscuits and mince pie was a nice touch.We were initially given a room with an adjoining door but after asking at reception they sourced us another one on the same floor very quickly with no fuss.Didn't use the bar but it was not particularly welcoming compared to other Hotel Indigo's we have stayed at.However if we visit York again we will return here as the rooms, location and particularly the staff were excellent.

We stayed for 1 night after our 2 night stay was cut short by an emergency at home. The staff were very professional and sympathetic.The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Shambles and the main shopping areas making it ideal for a city break however it is about 25 minutes walk to the train station.The hotel is very modern and well presented throughout and all staff we encountered were very friendly.The room was spacious and well appointed with welcome chocolates and biscuits provided which was a lovely touch. The room was spotless and well maintained.Breakfast in the restaurant was very good with a wide selection and it was lovely.I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely stay here, the rooms are clean and have nice decor and the staff were all very friendly. The only downside for me was that it is a bit loud if you're in a room at the front, although i am a very light sleeper so it wouldnt be an issue for many people. Also we ordered some pizzas to the room which would have been nice taste wise, but I think they must have been frozen as the sauce in mine was stone cold although the base and topping was warm which was a little odd, and a bit of a let down for £17 per pizza!Overall though its a lovely hotel, it's central and has parking nearby which is handy

Hotel and staff are good. I would recommend a stay here. The rooms are nice and well decorated. The bathroom shower etc is excellent. The staff very professional yet friendly.I managed to leave the car park 2 minutes late and got a fine. Which they repaid to me after I contacted them about it. Super happy.Would definitely recommend and will stay at this hotel group again.
