The Kings Arms Hotel
Excellent location in the heart of Melrose.Amazing friendly local staff, always smiling, helpful and flexible. The hotel is dog friendly, which was fantastic.Good breakfast included (a la carte style) and restaurant facility for the day, with a nice outdoor area for drinks. The room is cleaned at check-in with complementary coffee and tea.The hotel does not offer room service, so you have to manage your own room cleanliness until check-out.

This hotel is located in the centre of Melrose, an attractive small town in the borders. I stayed for a week on a fishing trip with friends.I had a single occupancy double room which was located next to public toilets on the first floor. The room was small but okay. The cleanliness of the hotel is poor. During the week my room was not serviced, other than a couple of cushions being rearranged on day two. The hotel bar was the scene of two big drinking events. Saturday's event went on past midnight with the noise keeping me awake. The hotel was renovated fairly recently and the rooms and public spaces are attractive. It's sad that it's badly managed and run.The room rate was poor value compared with nearby alternatives.

Always a good choice of food and drink in a great setting. Some good live music and outside area.As we live local, we can't advise on the rooms, but there is usually a really good atmosphere and I am told the breakfast is superb.

Ate meal tonight. Very nice staff. Made us and dog feel welcome. Food was good and reasonable price. Good selection of beers and wine. Nice interior. Decent pub.

The rooms were great, everything you could need, clean and tidy mattress was really comfy, my partner even said better than a Premier Inn bed. Ensuite bathroom was nice and clean as well. The fact that it's dog friendly as well is awesome, they even keep a jar of dog treats on the front desk. The bar is lovely, very cosy and good pricing.Breakfast was included and they were able to cater for gluten free as I'm coeliac, adapting the menu to make beans on toast which was really appreciated. Breakfast was delicious and served in the conservatory which was beautifully decorated. The location was great, close walk to everything. The only thing that would have made it better was parking.Overall a really great stay, would definitely recommend.

Passing through and stopped for a meal. (07/09/23). Staff friendly. Menu fair. Prices very reasonable. Wee mix up with our order, but waiter immediately apologised and fixed it.Friendly. Food above standard pub grub.

Only in for dinner. Staff super friendly and attentive. Maybe 2 vegetarian options on the menu? The falafel burger was uninspired and bland. Fish supper okay, discoloured unseasoned peas. The place has a nice vibe but food feels like an afterthought given the prices. Wanted to like it! Staff lovely :)

The hotel is a lovely typical period Scottish hotel. A great location in the centre of town. The staff are friendly & very helpful. The food is good & very reasonably priced. The garden suite is lounge, bedroom & en-suite with patio doors in each room. The bedroom & bathroom are both fine. The lounge is a pretty dark room with inadequate lighting,so reading a book or newspaper in the evening is not possible. The seating is rather uncomfortable. The small patio could be a real plus with some TLC & flowering plants. As is,it is dirty, full of weeds - such a pity.

Been here a couple of times for food. Service can sometimes be a bit slow however, staff are always friendly. It is dog friendly, lots of dog walkers come in with their dogs which is nice to see.Food is good quality, cooked and presented well. Wish the menu had slightly simpler sandwiches/toasties (such as cheese & ham) as I don't always want a big meal. They have a somewhat semi-decent gluten free menu. From what I've seen it's the best locally so very good if you're gluten free.

It was our second time in the restaurant, with the first being back to January 2020. Just like that time, the restaurant was really beautiful and cosy and the food was delicious. Seriously, it was delicious! The rib eye is unbelievably tasty. If you happen to be in the vicinity of Merlose, or you visit Abbotsford a few miles away, make sure you visit this restaurant. Certainly worth the time.
