We popped into the Ashleigh for a couple drinks and was greeted by a lovely member of staff named Abbie. She was very attentive and super welcoming throughout our visit. It’s always nice to see great customer service like this!Overall the pub has a lovely warming atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. I will certainly be returning!

Mothers day meal 2022.Although selecting a meal a week in advance can be frustrating. It did relieve the ooohing and arghing at the table and speed things up, If only we could remember who order what.Lovely service with humour added which is nice when you like humour.... If your a misery then maybe not the place for you.Beautiful building, been many times over the years and for a green king pub actually well maintained (Anyone who's been to a Green King pub in London would not believe its the same company!)Food was amazing (always is) service was lovely... And ability to put up with grumpy old folks was brilliant (Dad!).

Aeron took great care of us from the moment we arrived. Excellent service and atmosphere. The live music was a nice touch.

Come for a meal after work. Food was lovely. We shared a few sharing platters, then I had gammon for my main meal. Both courses were delicious. It's a lovely setting with lots of different little areas to sit. Definitely will be coming back

There were no available tables in the restaurant so we accepted the option to sit in the bar area. The area we sat in was very grubby. Walls stained and what looked like water leak damage above us.I ordered the only vegetarian option. Mushroom wellington. I was really unhappy to be told that I had to pay additional money for a Yorkshire pudding. I totally understand that it is listed as a vegan option hence not coming with one. But for vegetarians there should be an option to have one without extra cost.We paid the same price as people sitting in the restaurant. But none of the staff even came to check if everything was okay with our meal or to clear our plates. I never write negative reviews but on this occasion I am. Very disappointing experience.

Visited late Oct 2023You can use you Tesco's Club Card points - worth double the money at Chef and Brewer.Lovely pub/restaurant. Food was lovely - we had a steak and ale pie; a Cajun chicken burger, and the chef made a non-spicy chicken burger for us (which wasn't on the menu). It's a lovely, cosy place, with different seating sections, and good decor.Staff were all very friendly and efficient. It wasn't busy, although, we had booked, anyway. We did go quite early, around 5pm.Car parking is free but MUST be validated with your reg number when you go in the pub. There is seating outside, by the car park. Not a beer garden, as such, but still good to sit out on a warm day.The meals with 2 rounds of drinks (3 people) came to around £70, but I had converted £14 worth of Tesco's Club Card vouchers into Chef and Brewer rewards, which doubled the amount, equalling £28 off the meal. Fantastic!

Had booked a table for my son and I Sunday lunchtime. Staff were lovely and delivered our drinks while we perused the menu. We ordered the steak and ale pie from the main menu and wild boar burger from the specials menu. Food was fabulous and plenty of it. When ready to leave we went to the bar to pay. As I have mobility issues and cannot stand for very long I paid and left without checking my receipt. When we arrived home I checked the receipt and found that we were charged £4.10 each for the cokes, absolutely scandalous, and for the food I was charged for the pie and a sea trout. No mention of sea trout on the menu and it was definitely not one of our meals. This added around £2 to the bill. Ok, my fault for not checking before we left but how can you be charged for something not on the menu? It's a lovely place to eat with lots of different areas to sit and as I said the food was excellent. However, this was our first and probably last time we will visit as, like most people, I don't like to feel that I've been ripped off especially as the cost of living keeps rising

First visit since 2019. Came with Albrecht who hails from Bamburg. Mainly a food led pub but had 2 real ales. Greene King IPA and a eponymous bitter also from GK I would guess. Sadly it is now card only so loses 1* just for that. Beer garden patio to the rear by the car park, well sheltered from the road noise. Cam stroll straight into Abney Hall grounds from this rear area. Have had good food here in the past. Check online menu.

It was a quiet Monday early evening, and the kitchen was due to close at 7:30 for staff training. We just had time for a two course dinner and a pint. There were plenty of vegan options, including the specials, and the food was all good. A decent butternut squash soup, mains of gnocchi, and a particularly tasty mushroom pie. All washed down well with a well kept ale. The service from Megan and Ryan was excellent, thoughtful and well timed. Will be back again
