Avondale Guest House
A family feel guest house. Nothing is too much for the owner. Lovely breakfast, great rooms and perfect for a trip to York. Would highly recommend.

Avondale Guest House
Delightful B&B close to city walls and around 10 mins away by foot from the Wall and 15 from Clifford Tower. Landlady Carole was friendly, room was clean and tidy, good shower, comfortable bed, and tasty breakfast choices. Whisky porridge needs to be tried as it is good. I also enjoyed the fish for breakfast. Would happily stay here again next time we are in York.

Lovely place, very clean, great rooms, excellent breakfast. Lovely owner and staff.Worth a visit. Short walk in to York.Definitely will stay again.

Avondale Guest House
Booked here after reading the reviews and I must say I wasn't disappointed! Room and en suite were nice and clean. Parking was a bonus, which was helpful as the car parks in York can be busy and expensive. Location of the guest house is great as you can walk into the centre in less than 15 minutes. Breakfast was really good and you have a choice to either have it at 8am or 9am. Overall a really good experience, would definitely book again!

Fantastic 4 night stay at Avondale.second stay here this time in the poppy room which was a beautifully decorated spacious room with a large very comfortable bed Carole & Wendy are perfect hosts and if you need to know about york they have great knowledge. Lovely variety of breakfast which are all delicious. Will be back again next year for a lovely stay again.

We stayed 2 nights in the ‘Primrose’ room which was as described on booking.com ‘a small double room with ensuite’.The room was very clean, had plugs next to the bed to charge your phone and two small bedside cabinets for storage.Our host Carole was friendly and knowledgable about York, she suggested several paid and free activities.Breakfast was served with a smile by Wendy and Carole was very flexible making whatever you requested.I felt Carole went above and beyond buying vegan butter to accommodate a dairy intolerance.Top tip - book direct not though booking.com for the best rates and most popular dates.

From the start, we were made to feel extremely welcome. Carole was very knowledgeable on the history of the area and made great recommendations for things to see and do. Breakfast was absolutely fabulous, with a good choice of dishes and excellent and warm service from Wendy. The room was very comfortable with lots of thoughtful finishing touches. The location was central, with restaurants, cafes and bars within a 2 minute walk. The route into the city went past the city walls and the castle, so was a very pleasant walk. We would definitely recommend Avondale Guest House and thank you for such a fantastic stay!

Avondale Guest House
I booked Avondale Guest House as it had won an award for best breakfast. I'm so glad I did as I had beautifully cooked poached salmon each morning with egg and toast. My room was clean and comfortable and I was made to feel very welcome. Also, not very far to walk to the walls and from there, the rest of York itself. If I ever return to York, I know where to book. Thank you!

Carole was great with loads of local knowledge. The room was lovely and she had thought if everything that may be needed. If you like a good breakfast then this is the place to be best breakfast and they have happy to change anything to your liking
