Wonderful small place that exhibits the history of pre- and early cinema. Precious collection but also dynamic student’s curations. Friendly staff.

Great little museum with lots of interesting displays. It's definitely catering towards film nerds and for the general public it's not so engaging. Worth a quick visit if you're in the area.

Definitely worth a visit if you're seriously interested in film history. It's fairly small, based around a bequest by Bill Douglas to the University of Exeter. To display as much as possible, the exhibit cases are a bit crowded but the items are of great interest. The second gallery has a good exhibition of pre-film moving image makers. Nice people in charge, and not too far to walk from the city centre (we did, ages 73 and 76).

A very small scale museum with some great pieces (pictured) that really make it worthwhile. Very comprehensive too, everything from Chinese shadow puppets to Totoro!

A small, free, museum of cinema memorabilia, mainly posters and small artefacts, in one of the university buildings. Worth a visit if you're passing.

Had to be at the uni for something else so popped in to have a look. 2 galleries split across floors (easy access though).Obviously would be interesting to film people but also to anyone interested in media design too, or general history. And free!

Museum dedicated to cinema and different types of film making.Split over 2 levels and inside the university of Exeter, this museum is full of film memorabilia from different decades and genres.Covering films from Shaun of the dead, Alice in wonderland, black panther to comrades, they have a great selection of cinema items, including ushers touches, note books and old ticket rolls.Downstairs there is more of an interactive room, with view finders, shadow makers, 3D scenes & spinning illusion moving picture makers. The curator was also on hand to talk us through the displays, he was very friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. The museum is free and quite small, but if you are a big film fan, you could easily spend a couple of hours here, looking at the displays and getting lost in the information.

This cinema museum is a absolute must, great way of showing things about the moving picture, the tricks and the way you see cinema for the way it is today. Please do your self a favour go here.

Great museum to visit for my kids. It’s a short visit (about 30 minutes) with some reading but also some activities. We found an open suitcase with some activities: some old school 3D glasses (one blue and one red lenses) with some pictures. Brought me back to my childhood.Highly recommend!!
