Came here to watch the meteor shower in December as Galloway is a dark sky zone. Wasn't let down at all.Remote. Tranquil. Beautiful. A secluded spot surrounded by natural splendour around a small loch. Many pathways lead to adventures across the moorlands for the daring and energetic. This was mid winter and -8° yet still such beauty warmed the soul.Car park is reached along several miles of remote forest roads past dams, rivers, over bridges and through dense woodland. No facilities on this site although a visitor centre is en route with regular opening times in peak season. Very friendly local Robins who act as footpath guides.

Absolutely brilliant views from Bruce’s Stone. We came during the weekday while on holiday and went on the large green walking path. The stone was one of the last things we saw but the views were spectacular. Highly recommend

Small free carpark if you continue down the road from the main carpark, Best views over the entire Loch. Located just next to the Marrick hiking path and falls.

A lovely quiet place with nice views over Loch Trool. Take a while to walk down to the waterfalls at Buchan Burn. It's not very far but a bit of a hill if you find walking an effort.

Beautifully situated commemoration of a battle fought in the area by Bruce against the English , there are car parks right by the stone but its a scenic 1 hour walk from the Loch Trool trail car park , fantastic views over the loch

This trail is very accessible. You can park right near the trailhead. You can then use it to access more rigorous less marked trails or just enjoy the incredible views of pastureland, the loch, a large waterfall and forest. If you are trying to find the right parking area, there is a mountain biking trail area with another parking lot you access first, but then you carry on driving beyond that. Eventually you dead end at the trailhead for Bruce's stone.

Great place to visit with stunning views across the lock. We visit here everytime we are in the area.I would recommend spending some time at Glentrool Visitors centre and taking one of the many walking trails at the bottom.
