The Engine Shed
Good, not great. Personally I'm not a fan of one level seating, the bar closed before the end of the show so couldn't get a drink after and massive queues for the toilets at the interval for males and females. In an area that can seat over 800 people, you need more stalls.

Wilkinson event was brilliant, quick getting in, capacity was good, security wasn't bad. only thing that hampered the night was the bar. serious lack of choice and staff. 40 min waits, poor guys behind the bar were stressed.

I don't like visiting the Engine Shed. It's the only event space I go to where after spending the best part of 3 hours sitting down on their chairs for a seated event, I feel like I need a sit down. Had a proper backache after the comedy gig I attended on Sunday evening. The bar on Sunday was incredibly slow, meaning we almost didn't manage to get a drink in the 25 minute interval despite queueing up from the start of the interval. One of the security guys was walking up and down the queues of people barking how many minutes until the bar closed as if it was our fault the service was slow. Some people were unable to get a drink due to time. The reusable plastic cups they serve in hold on to smells so they don't feel clean, and they're covered in scratches too. I do like the addition of the bins where you can deposit the reusable cups but seemingly nobody else used them.I find the toilets inside the venue very confusing. Admittedly this is a me problem because they catch me out every time, but I don't understand the point of the weird handwashing room when there could be sinks in the separate bathrooms. For seated events, you really don't have a lot of space. They like to pack you in tightly. On my last visit the cloakroom wasn't open, so lots of people were trying to hold onto puffy coats and things that there was no room for (I don't really want to put my stuff on the floor because I've seen what goes on at Quack). It also takes forever to get out after a seated gig because there is one exit door and no traffic control. The acoustics of the venue are fine for live music and stage shows (I'm not an audiophile or anything though).

I don't often give reviews, however for this venue I will. I think it is extremely cool how versatile this place is and the roster of events it offers. Staff are also great!

Great stand up by Dave gorman. Been here a few times ans great small space. However if it's a seated event be warned the seats are very close to each other. Anyone big will struggle and affect the person in the next seat.

A great venue, we've been to see several comedians (famous ones too!). The location is good for parking and for nearby restaurants and pubs. It only lost a star because the last gig we went to was so hot! There didn't seem to be any air conditioning and there were a lot of people so it was very uncomfortable by the end of the night.

Visited engine shed on numerous occasions. It's a well rounded venue with wonderful staff. Drinks prices are reasonable for the type of events they offer and the selection is big enough. Their sound system is AMAZING and comparable to a bigger venue. Always good. Staff are friendly, chatty and pleasant. Entering and exiting the venue is also well planned and wait.times are minimal. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in seeing events here.

Brilliant night watching Chris Moyles. Just be aware it is a cashless venue. The atmosphere was fantastic, highly recommended

Good acts, but blimey they don't half cram you in to seats. Spent 3 hrs with my elbow in 1 guys stomach and his knees touching mine. And yes I'm a bit tubby but I would say 80% of people there would not be able to cross seats to exit or go toilet etc without rubbing against others sat In the rows. Venue is cashless. Parking I believe is free on evening around the campus.
