Salt and vinegar

After a busy Sunday morning, wanted to have fish and and ships which is one of my favorite meals, went to this shop with my children without seeing the reviews. They’re only one table with three people. I hesitated as i myself is a restauranter, footfall means a lot but we were starving. Ordered regular fish and chips and 8 piece All day breakfast. Fish was very small, tasteless, no salt whatsoever in the fish nor in the batter, chips were too dry and cold, there was curry sauce as they gave me the option if I need mushy peas or curry sauce. I asked for curry sauce. There was no tartare sauce. I thought they must have forgotten because this is the first time ever in 30 years, fish and chips was served without tartare sauce. I asked the lady at the counter if they forgot the sauce, she said- “Nope, you need to pay extra”.WOW…So I had to pay 50p extra and she gave me two small sachets of sauce. This was my worst experience ever.All day breakfast was another disaster. Sausage was such a cheap quality, bacon was so hard we couldn’t even break with teeth, fried bread was very oily. All in all our Sunday brunch was a nightmare in the daylight!I wouldn’t return this place even if this the last place left in the universe. Meal is not worth even a single star but the staff at the counter deserves this as it’s not their fault. Definitely need a change of chef.

Paid for a large chips and curry sauce £4 for large chips and £1 for pot of curry sauce. 15 minutes later I get this. Not very impressed and won’t be coming back again. No salt or vinegar either . VERY DISAPPOINTING !

This is what i received for a cone of chips that cost £2. I understand everywhere is struggling but this is ridiculous. When asked if this was correct i received a poor attitude back from the owner. Very disappointing will not be eating here again!

Happy with the fish and chips we ordered. We waited for a while but it was worth the wait; both the fish and chips were hot and crispy, and the portion is quite big. Just want to comment that it is unclear which are the chargeable sauces and which are not.

Prices are above average, but what do you expect the businesses in west orchards pay high rent rates.The only issue here was that tables and chairs need to be cleaned on a regular basis.I had to move to another table due to the dirty table with grease on it..

I have eaten since it first opened and come into town to visit Salt and Vinegar. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. The food is delicious and a good price and I think I've tried the whole menu! Honestly the comments are not justified give it a go you'll love it as much as I do!

Lady who served me glasses bobbed hair I believe the owner, extremely rude places things on the counter miles away so have to stretch to get them. Asked for just lettuce and Onion as a salad option and was told it comes as a mixed salad. When I ask any other members of staff serving they are more than happy to accommodate my request. I believe she was just being lazy as all she does is asks her staff to do everything. Not a great manager or leader! Quality of Food however is very good.

I ordered a 10 items breakfast but all the food are very oily. The chips are not crispy as well. However, they provide baby seat which is very friendly to family with kids. The price is cheap too.

Ordered a 6 item breakfast, no egg tomatoes instead, waited over half an hour, went back to the counter, a staff member approached me, I explained been waiting half an hour for my breakfast, her reply back we waiting on your bacon and we busy very rude, what it takes 30mins for 1 slice of bacon to be cooked, recieved my food 4 pieces of mushrooms, 1 undercooked,1 piece of anemic sausage, bacon, 2 little jugs containing beans so dry and tomatoes sauce was dry, asked for brown sauce paid 50p extra got BBQ instead, will definitely not go be going back there, if you starving and want to wait over 30 mins for food go for it and especially when it’s not even busy which they make out
