Nothing wrong with the national timber merchants but we prefer our local economy. We parked, walked in and were greeted by Jaime. Explained what we needed, Jaime advice us a cheaper plywood which are more suitable for the purpose we need. They do cutting service, ideal if one doesn't have a truck or a panel van. Jacko did all the cutting with precision. Also adviced us on good techniques. Overall, a friendly, knowledgeable as well as professional staff. Not forgetting good value for money too. I would highly recommend.

Went into Southport timber yesterday 7/07/2016' it was dead on lunch time, but a very kind gentleman still took my order, only wanted a small piece of plywood cut to measure.he carefully took my measurements, went to find a suitable piece to cut down and said it would be ready after 3pm, I said I wasn't sure if I could get back so said I would leave it till morning. Was there at opening, saw the same man who had it waiting by the door. Very very happy with the service and would recommend them,and would go back.

Lots of stock but has to be the most expensive timber on Merseyside. Total Timber in Formby is way cheaper but for small amounts it saves me a 40 minute round trip.

This branch have let us down on a number of occasions over the past few weeks, they have taken orders and money from us and then either on the day of the delivery or the day before they contact us to tell us they don't have the things we've ordered in stock. We managed to reorder the materials through another branch of Huws grays and asked this branch if they could pick up the materials on their way seeing as they were coming to our address anyway with the rest of our order and they were unhelpful and refused despite having let us down. Would not recommend.

Good price and friendly service

Not a great experience sadly.The lads in the shop were nice enough so if you want anything from the shop bit then go ahead.But if you want anything from the yard, forget it. Noone wants to help. You get a load of- oh that's Jacko's job.... you need speak to Steve.I only wanted a bit of plywood. Was told by someone in the yard to go in the shop and order it and they'd cut it to the size I wanted.Went in the shop and was told the saw wasn't working. I told them the bloke in the yard said it was working. So I bought this huge piece of wood for a small loft trap door. Went outside and it was everyone else's job.I finally found the bloke whose job it was and he said he'd got loads to do so it'd be AN HOUR!? He said it's in the warehouse if you wanna just take it and do it at home yourself. Couldn't fit it in the car.Went back in the shop and said I'll have a refund thanks and magically someone was available to do it then.Proper made me feel like it was too much trouble for them to do what I'd paid for. Even a delivery driver said- you're on your own out here lad, it's murder trying to get anyone to do anything out here.Like I said though, shop lads are good lads- helpful, friendly and a laugh.

Waited 8 minutes while guy decided to serve me then he slams the phone says F****** H*** then yes PalI left the timber on the counter and walked around to B&Q Thats what you get for supporting local firms never again what a joke
