Has a very large car park handy if you have a big vehicle, booked a single but given a double room that was nice , the bed was comfortable, bathroom looked like it had been refurbished not long ago. Television was a little small, the area was very quiet very little noise from the road .

The most delicious Sunday carvery. Lunchtime and evening service. Amazing friendly staff. Best to book. We are lucky enough to live quite near and have returned a number of times. Puddings are exceptional and homemade. We are yet to try the loaded fries which a friend has recommended. A great destination or stop off for longer journeys.

Although we had booked a King/Twin room months in advance, sadly we were informed upon our arrival that something had gone wrong with the booking system, which meant that the room was not available. The landlord offered us a Double and an adjacent Single room instead, which is obviously not a desirable option for a married couple on a romantic getaway. We therefore opted to both sleep in the double room, though we regretted our decision the next morning, as the bed was clearly too narrow for two people to sleep in comfortably. The landlord had offered to make up for this mishap with our dinner, though we ended up being merely treated to 2 glasses of sparkling wine, which seemed a bit too small a gesture for our inconvenience. On the bright side, staff very generally friendly and we liked the breakfast. But having seen the high review rating this Inn is getting, it did feel somewhat of a let-down, to be honest.Google lists the establishment as a 4-star hotel, which doesn't seem quite appropriate. E.g. bottled water in the room was sorely missing. The decor also seemed rather dated to us.

Visited last evening, yes it is open on a Monday, indeed open 7 days a week, with 2 friends who live locally and who rated the Inn very highly.Possibly the warmest welcome ever in a pub, shown to our table and drinks order taken, giving us several minutes to select food from the extensive menu.Other members of staff similarly friendly and with great senses of humour deliver the 4 different main courses, barely a scrap of anything left uneaten, then followed by differing selections from the dessert board, again with the same resulting empty bowls and dishes.Thankyou to the whole team for making it a really great evening.

Stopped on the way from Tarr steps. The village is lovely and the pub has ev charging points. We all chose the tasty burger with bacon, cheese and chilli jam. It came with a salad garnish and chips. Absolutely delicious.

The owners of this establishment are quite simply lovely. There were exceptional circumstances that meant we couldn’t get an evening meal after a long day hiking. After being collected at the end of our walk we were given the keys and a taxi was ordered so we could get to another local pub. The room was perfect and we were provided with a hearty breakfast. A visit we will never forget!

Family owned pub, personal service and always welcoming. We come back every year for a meal and it's always the same. Village centre location, nice food, quality/price correct. Thank you Landlord.

We came across this pub because we were staying just across the road (!) and had a chance to opt for their Sunday carvery. Eric and his staff (Alan on the carvery was great) gave excellent service- friendly and very attentive. The beef was tender, the pork and Turkey delicious along with a good spread of veggies. Thanks all!
