Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh - Leith Waterfront, an IHG Hotel

Room was excellent.However breakfast wasn't we went down at 8.30 and there wasn't much left. It doesn't finish till 10 ? We were sat in between 2 tables which we hate as there is no room and is very cramped. Loads of people coffee machine didn't work. Not the best.

Very comfortable stay here. Rooms are well appointed and staff are generally helpful and friendly. They did advertise that they would supply a feather pillow if required, but there were none available. Breakfast service was not great, but then the hotel was full, so they were very busy. We did have 43 in our party who were well catered for.

Rooms were perfectly fine: nice bed, enough space, good shower! The breakfast leaves a little to be desired. Would have loved some meats or sliced cheese for the toast. Most of times bacon and eggs were empty due to demand, although they did get refilled fairly quickly.Location wise this hotel is really nice: it has a shopping centre across the street and a tram station alongside. Getting to the centre of Edinburgh takes like 10-15 minutes at most. There are some nearby activities as well, such as 2 distilleries and good dining locations!Certainly would recommend a stay here!

Super friendly and helpful staff who really couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were adequate and the location was really good for the Ocean terminal and tram stop just a short walk away. Breakfast was distinctly average but didn't expect much for the cheap price.

Excellent room with a great shower and big HD TV. I think we were in a relatively new room. The breakfast was not great however. Dry croissants was the only pastry choice. Sausages and bacon looked nice but we are vegetarian so only left scrambled egg and baked beans. Staff were very good. Would probably look elsewhere in future in the hope of finding a better breakfast. To be fair if you're a meat eater you'll like it I think.

When was this hotel last cleaned and the staff trained ?We stayed three nights and from the time we arrived until we left the hallway had boot prints on the carpet in the corridor and our room needed a deep clean with dust and cobwebs in the corners and the carpet heavily stained and needing a good clean ! The room was so cold we had to ask for a heating which in all fairness was supplied quickly by staff. On one of the nights I asked for a latte which was presented in a mug that was just about half full and when I queried this from the male member of staff who seemed to have an attitude problem his response was the the size of the measure as machine gives us the amount and we can’t change it !Parking has to be paid for using an app or machine in foyer which didn’t recognise our number plateWhile the bed was clean large and comfortable the room needed some maintenance with hangers falling off the wall notes from previous guests and placed behind the curtainOverall not a good experience from this hotel - pull your socks up smile at customers be polite and remember it’s us who pay your wages and keep you in a job !
