Visited here a few days ago for a late lunch. Had the BBQ platter between two which was more than enough easily serves three, the smell was incredible and some of the best food had in a long time, decent selection loved the shawarma and buffalo wings. Great to see this place busy decent pub with a fantastic menu and great friendy staff highly recommend!

Under new management and the change is very noticeable.Gone have all the tacky advertising banners. Instead an understated modern bistro with safe car parking off the main A6 at the rear. The view is spectacular of Rivington as you exit your car, plus dining outside whilst admiring it.A central located bar provides easy access from wherever you are seated.Although this is a family oriented eatery, it also has a DOG FRIENDLY area. The menu is typical with a grill, steak, etc. but the focus is the burgers. I had the Greek Gyro which was beef & lamb kebab meat with the nicest cooked chips I've had in a while. You may pay slightly more than usual for the burgers but the choice is huge and they are very appetising.Cask ales are not really present bar one, so it's the usual larger or Guinness - such a shame, hence the 4*The manager is very hospitable and makes every effort for you to enjoy the stay.

Booked for 7.30,didn't sit down till 8.45.ordered the garlic and cheese ball's, they were cold and hard with no cheese in them and cold tomato puree. I had the bevette steak, which was ok, my partner had the Don corleone, which I was told was over cooked. I also asked for a blue cheese sauce, which came in a VERY small pot and was charged £4.00(see picture). The mains came about 9.30 by which time we weren't really hungry any more, so we did leave quite a bit! The table next to us got up and left in disgust, saying they'd been waiting even longer. All in all not our best first time experience

Visited the Waggon & Horses on at 1pm on a Saturday in June '22 with a work colleague and his two teenage sons. when we arrived the [place was very quiet, but when we left at 2:30pm it was getting busy. For starters we had loaded nachos, haloumi fries and cauliflower pakora. Mains was Double vegan burger, cheese burger, chip shop burger and peri[ peri marinated grilled chicken. Pepsi max to drink and two lots of chocolate donuts for desert. The service and food was excellent. Good value at £106.Definitely deserves 5 stars!

Fantastic food and friendly staff. The Martin the Meat" burger was packed with tasty pork belly and the burger patty was full of flavour. The Brisket was nice too as was the chicken thigh

Not only did we wait over an hour for our food, but when it come out, none of the allergy information we told them was taken into consideration- we asked politely for no dressing on the salad and no onions in our burgers and both came out with dressing and onions on. The food was overcooked, the chips hard and the burgers tough. They coated everything in a cheesy sauce which was not mentioned on the menu, otherwise i would not have ordered what i did. Furthermore, there was no calorie information on the menu too- i know not important but personally i would have appreciated it. Slow service and poor food, which was expensive. Would not return.

We ate here recently and were really impressed with everything. The food was delicious and the amount of choice on the menu is great. The service was great, food was served really quickly and the staff were very friendly. There is a nice atmosphere and the decor is fresh. We will definitely be back to sample some more from the fab menu.

Plenty of parking, greeted as we walked in and taken to a table, very clean and bright but cosy in the bar area. Lots of burgers to choose, the meat burger was very light and easy to eat, clean plates apart from some chips. Lots of cocktails on the menu as the driver I didn't study the drinks, next time :).

Right, I’m going to start with the positives and there are a few as I did enjoy our visit here.To start, I came to this place a few years ago and walked straight back out, this place has changed and definitely for the better. It has been decorated very nicely, lovely initial impression with plenty of parking.Friendly welcome by the staff upon our arrival who showed us to our table in a very prompt manner. We were allowed a good amount of time to view the menu and our drinks order was taken early on and delivered quite quickly.Between our party of six, we ordered/covered a few sections of the menu.Several starters were ordered, our selection was the cheeseburger rolls, Mac and cheese bites, halloumi fries, garlic toast and a child’s garlic bread. These were delivered nice and quick and piping hot.The mains we ordered were the BBQ sharing plate, double cheeseburger with bacon, half a fried chicken, the flat iron steak and a childs burger meal. Again, very nice, very nice indeed. For dessert we had between us the apple pie, chocolate tree, ice cream and brownies. These were nice and rounded off the meal.To sum up, nice food, friendly staff, but unfortunately, there are some negatives. No drinks menu available and no cocktails, even though cocktails were advertised within the building. Our starters order wasn’t taken down correctly and one part of it was missing, we did point It out and to be fair, we were offered for it to be corrected, but by this time, we had nearly finished our starters, so there was no point. With the mains order, we had to wait a little while for this and the sharing plate had an item missing which again we had to point out, it was delivered to the table, but I feel it wouldn’t of if we hadn’t of raised it. There was also an item unavailable on the sharing plate, which had been substituted, but we were only advised if this, once the food had been delivered.Even though a steak was ordered, no steak knife was delivered with the plate. Thankfully, the steak was cooked well, so the knife on the table was sufficient. When it came to desserts, we waited a very long time for these, plus there were two items on the menu that were not available but we only knew this when we tried to order them. The desserts were, OK, but again, were delivered incorrectly.I must admit, it was busier here than I was expecting for the time and for the day and the staff were very busy, but I feel that the staff that tended to us seemed to be a little inexperienced and unsure of what was expected, hence the mistakes mentioned above.I understand that due to what has happened lately and the hospitality industry has been severely hit, but when a “sharing” platter is delivered you should be asked how many plates you want and not, do you want any plates. You shouldn’t also need to tell the waiting staff what you get with your meal, they should know, but as stated, places are constantly recruiting new staff at the minute, so hopefully, with experience, this will improve. Please don’t get me wrong, the staff were very nice and if they stick it out will be very good .In general, lovely place, lovely food. You’ll enjoy it!
