The Emperor's Old Clothes

I have just purchased the stunning Anchors Away Dress taken from the Shipshape collection. It is beautifully hand made with a 1950 style, using a navy & white anchor print cotton. This dress was customised to fit as I needed a few inches taken up due to being more petite in size, this was all done within a very good time scale.This has been my third purchase from the Emperor's Old Clothes. As well as the Anchors Away Dress I have the Faux Fur Handbag and the Vintage Lace Rosette Brooch, again both beautifully hand made and have been worn a lot. I have had loads of compliments when wearing these three pieces and would highly recommend buying from The Emperor's Old Clothes if you love unique, custom and vintage inspired collections.

my empororer's bespoke suit is beautiful. from when i decided i wanted a suit, cec helped me think about what i wanted (because when you decide you want a suit, you dont really know what it is you actually want ) to the getting the suit made, to when after it was bought and paid for and then afterwards i said i think i need an extra half inch on the cuffs, all the time you get the total 'besoke' service to make sure it is absolutely right. I had my bespoke wedding skirt and top made my the Emperor's Old Clothes as part of their tailoring service. What an amazing job they did! Everyone at the wedding said what a beautiful and original outfit I had, this was all thanks to the Emperor's Old Clothes who were organised, very creative and took great care in every detail including matching gold binding inside my skirt to match my shoes. I had a bespoke dress made for me by the lovely folk at The Emperor's Old Clothes. I had an existing dress that I liked the shape of, but wanted in a fabric more suitable for summer. The fittings were a fantastic process, Cecily tweaked the design to work better with the cotton that I had chosen and was able to make adjustments to my taste. I am really pleased with the result. The service and the quality of craftmanship were both excellent. Recommended for those who want something a bit different and unique in their wardrobe.

Amazing quality, gorgeous clothes, the most friendly customer service on the entire planet - there is nothing not to love about Emperor’s. The design process is so fun, Cecily and Alice and so incredible and helpful, and the clothes are always gorgeous and never disappoint. Getting one of a kind pieces made ethically from dead stock fabric could not be more fun or have better results. I love Emperor’s and have ordered (and will continue to order) again and again and cannot recommend them highly enough. They are simply amazing.

I purchased design-your-own clothing and the process was super easy. This brand is very active on Instagram offering you a peek into their daily activities and have highlights to help you with measuring and ordering. The items I received are well made and fit perfectly. I love that if they didn't fit (or don't in the future) I can send them in for an alteration.

I am lucky enough to have two items from The Emperor's Old Clothes. I have the red riding hood cloak from the Fairytales collection and it is beautifully made. The lining is a vintage satin and the velvet on the outside is really lovely. Lots of people have said how much they like it. The Emperor's Old Clothes also customised a dress for me. They did it in a very short space of time so I could wear it to my birthday party and perfectly matched extra fabric with the dress. I would highly recommend buying an item from one of their collections or commissioning something bespoke. Happy shopping!!!

We had our wedding outfits made by The Emperors Old Clothes and the whole experience was magic.The team are sensitive to the needs of neurodivergent people - one of us had to reschedule a fitting due to being overwhelmed by the heat that day. They were very accommodating to this.They also helped us with finding fabric choices that were comfortable by letting us touch fabrics while picking them out.We had accessible zippers put in on our trousers and we had lots of fittings as the team wanted to make sure everything was perfect.The staff are all so friendly and warm. It feels cosy and welcoming when you visit the studio.Staff are informed on how to work with trans people and are sensitive to how some of us may wish for specific fits in our clothing. Outfits are truly tailored to the individual person.Overall, we are so thrilled with our garments and the whole experience was so refreshing as people who find it hard to get the right fit.Would highly recommend to anyone, especially for those of us who are fat, neurodivergent, queer, trans or all of the above.

Cecily produced an amazing waistcoat for my husband, who is really fussy about fashion and what he wears. He was delighted with the waistcoat and I would really recommend Emperor's old Clothes to anyone who wants something just a little bit special which you cannot buy off-the shelf.
