Whitfield is a beautiful place to visit. It's ideal for exercising dogs. It has a lot of different wildlife and it has two lakes. It has Chatterley Whitfield mining museum as a bonus. I personally can only visit part of the valley as I am disabled but there are some tarmac paths so I can visit. If you walk the old train tracks and go under the bridge, you come to another part of the valley Holden Lane where there is a pond with plenty of wildlife. Also, the car park for Whitfield is shared with Ford Green Hall, which is well worth a visit. There is a fee for that and the Mining Museum, but the car park and everywhere else is free. You can easily spend a whole day there.

A long stretch of land in between a few housing estates with a main tarmac path on one side, and loads of dirt paths throughout. The main path is wheelchair accessible but most of the paths I saw were not, plus there is a small hill in the middle which would be hard to push someone up, unless you have an electric wheelchair.I didn't see any toilets or any other facilities such as a cafe, but Ford Green Hall is next door and may have facilities. The nature reserve is quite big and you can easily get 5+ miles of walking there. Great for dog walking and we saw several cyclists on the main path, plus fishermen on one of the lakes.Nothing fancy but a good place to get out and stretch your legs. There is ample free parking.

I saw so many butterflies and other wildlife on my walk! Many different tracks to take and beautiful scenery. My border collie loved it and for my first ever visit to Stoke on Trent this was a treat in the sunshine.

Beautiful nature reserve hidden to one side of a busy road and at the side of Ford Green Hall, a timber-framed farm house built in 1624. There are a number of paths into the nature reserve, two pounds with wildlife living on the water. Well worth a visit, have a stroll around the nature reserve.

I have lived reletively close to Whitfield Valley Nature reserve for many years but I rarely make use of it these days. On the occassions I have, I have sadly experienced anti-social behavour such as motorbikes riding the pathways, kids attacking wildlife, dogs running riot chasing cycles, broken glass over the pathways, druggies standing in bushes and pestering people, dirty nappies, rubbish, youths shouting abuse, setting fires to the grasslands, etc etc. Its such a pity because it really is turning into a beautiful nature reserve, wirh loads of paths to explore. Route 55 also passes through which is a fantastic cycle route (why I was visited the nature reserve). I see that there are now 2 cameras up on the hill, not sure if that is a good sign or a bad sign! Its a large area that needs daily patrols from the Police/PCSO/Rangers but I guess there isnt the funding. I wish we could carry tazzers and pepper spray!
