Hamwic House

You cannot really like or love Hamwic House because of what is treated there.

Wonderful place with amazing staff.

Over the last couple of years I have had many treatments at Hamwic House, from checking in with the reception staff, seeing the nurses to have my blood taken and finally having treatment of chemotherapy by other nurses. Everyone on duty on all my visits have been very friendly, professional and understanding. They all do a marvellous job and we are so fortunate to have the NHS to take care of us.

The queuing system for blood tests has been chaotic previously, but otherwise it's a good facility, which through being located on the edge of the hospital site, adjacent to the Blue car park, keeps oncology patients as far away as possible from the hazard of Covid cross-infection in the main hospital. There's a twisty route through the hospital grounds (not terribly well signposted and protected by barriers) which enables patients to be dropped off at a location which is a short walk from Hamwic House. If you have a valid blue badge and an appointment, there's a procedure which allows you to park for free. Frankly, it's as good as they can make it for Oncology patients, on what is a busy and cluttered site.
