A festive Christmas CarolWent to see this play in Chippenham on the 18th December. This is my all time favourite story since it was read in the school classroom when i was 10 years old some 49 years ago. Having seen every film version of this story i wondered how you would bring this classic tale to such a small stage. Well i was impressed to say the least. This performance was amazing and the stage space used imaginatively to enable all scenes to look realistic and believable. The cast ( I counted 9 of them) performed brilliantly in their various roles as well as Scrooge ( Mathew Christmas) who was on stage all of the time.Scrooges father was a nasty piece of work with his menacing looks and aggressive domineer.I was sceptical when Tiny Tim was carried in on Bob Cratchet’s shoulders to see it was a puppet. Well let me tell you I welled up when Tiny Tim died in a touching scene surrounded by his family as scrooge looks on.The final scene was amazing with the snow falling over the cast and its festive ending.I enjoyed this production so much I left the theatre ready for ChristmasWell done to all the cast and team for an amazing production

Cinderella in the Valley Gardens, Harrogate, was a million miles from the image which accompanied the publicity. Not magical at all and no sparkle. I wonder who it was aimed at? Very difficult to hear the performers, whose vocal projection was not great. A disappointment.

Sound system for an open air performance was dire. We couldn’t hear the performance - were the loudspeakers switched on I wonder. Half of the performance was at ground level, and not on the stage, so couldn’t be seen from more than two rows back. Why stipulate sitting on rugs or in low back chairs, if everyone one else brings normal chairs, so it was almost impossible to see the performance. It might very well have been a good performance, but we couldn’t see it or hear it, and left at the interval along with dozens of other people who were also complaining about the staging. Such a shame ad the weather was lovely, but I would have had a better evening listening to the play on a radio with the sound turned off!Even so it was lovely that live performances are back with us, but you stage production let the actors performance down badly.

My husband and I attended the performance of Pride & Prejudice at Chawton House and were greatly impressed that most of the actors had 2 or 3 parts to play and more so that they had memorised so many lines. I was slightly confused as there were only 4 sisters instead of 5, but they made great use of the available actors and the adaption of the book very well done. A lovely evening in a gorgeous setting. Very adapt.

Saw A Christmas Carol last night at Sheffield Cathedral. The scenes were very drawn out, there was no fun, I know it's a pretty dark play but there could have been some humour and singing. As for the raffle, £5 to win a bottle of wine or a bottle of prosecco or a tub of chocolates, that's outrageous! Expected a spa day or something.

Great show at Sheffield Cathedral. Even having to evacuate the building when the alarm activated and a visit from the fire brigade didn’t put them off. Brilliant performance

Saw Importance of Being Earnest recently in Emo Gardens, Co. Laois in the pouring rain. The actors were fabulous despite the weather! I hadn't been to a Chapterhouse play since before Covid and I really enjoyed it.
